To facilitate traffic movement on
Main street at the Central and Riverside-
avenue Intersections, where ap
proach lanes have recently been re
f painted, the engineering and accident-prevention
committee of the
Medford Traffic Safety council calls
attention to several simple rules
which should be followed.
Cars traveling straight through on
Main street or preparing to turn right
should use, the extreme right-hand
lane, leaving the lane nearest the
center of the street for machine pre
paring to turn left.
In the case of the Main street and
Central avenue intersection, straight
through and right-turning traffic will
' thus be able to proceed -Immediately
after being given the green light,
without being held up by left-turning
cars.
At the same time, cars making left
turns from the lane next to the cen
ter of the street will be able to pro
ceed when a break in through traffic
occurs.
just remember, the committee
points out, to keep to the extreme
right-hand lane at Intersections, ex
cept when preparing to turn left,

New Model Fordson
Nearly one million Fordson tractors
have been bought by farmers for ev
ery farm Job. according to C. O.
Wheelock. of the Lewis Super Serv
ice Station, local Fordson dealer. The
newest Fordson tractor, with many
new improvements Is now on dis
play at the Lewis Super Service sta
tion. Mr. Wheelock says:
"Improvements that have come out
of actual experience on the farm have
been Incorporated In the new models.
The new Fordson Is enough tractor
lor any farmer. It Is light enough for
light work and heavy enough for
heavy work.
"The new worm steering In the
' 1038 Fordson makes this tractor han
dle as easy as a motor car on a paved
street. It Isn't necessary to tug and
haul at the wheel and this new Ford
son will turn on the proverbial dime.
The quick starting, oil economy, com
fort and strength of the Fordson is
already well known, .Fordsons choice
of either a gasoline carburetor or a
i fuel oil vaporizer Is another very 1m
p portant Improvement that has been
retained In the new models."

A Lesson in Physics For Drivers
A new' word, "turnability,"
has been coined by The Travel
era Insurance Company in en ef
fort to picture for drivers just
what happens in the higher
brackets of speed. A page of the
company's new highway safety
booklet entitled "Death Begins
at 40" is headed "A Lesson m
Physics for Drivers" and makes
use of this term for the first time.
"The first law of motion." the
booklet states, "is that a mov-
lng body tends to continue In uni
form motion in a straight line.
The energy of a moving body is
in proportion to the square of its
speed.
"At 25 miles an hour, how
ever, you can make a fairly sharp
turn. At 50 miles an hour, you
can make only one-fourth as
sharp a turn as you could make
at 25. This explains many acci
dents In turning and passing at
higher speeds.
"And at 75 miles an hour, the
