Orchestra Concert
This Evening
One of the outstanding events of
National Music Week In Medtord it
the Junior Symphony orchestra., un
der the direction of John R. Knight,
which will be presented In concert
this evening at 8:15 o'clock In the
senior high school auditorium. Zonta
International of Medford Is sponsor
of the concert.
Quest artists appearing on the pro
gram Include Esther Palmer Day. well
known harpist, and the Teachers'
Chorus of mixed voices, under the
direction of Esther Churoh Leake.
Another feature of the entertainment
will be a solo by Eff le Kurut, so
prano, accompanied by Mrs. Day and
the harp.
The concert this evening la the
final of a series of three which have
been enjoyed throughout the winter.

Thursday Event
For Music Week
A "Snow White" benefit tea, spon
sored by the Medford Music club, will
be held Thursday afternoon from 3:30
to 5 o'clock at the Presbyterian
church.
The tea la to raise funds to pay
for prizes awarded Junior and senior
high school students In the Music
Week poster contest recently com
pleted. The "Snow White" motif will
be carried out with tea served from
a "wishing well."
The committee In charge of ar
rangements includes Vera Humphries,
tables: Mrs. Rawles Moore, music;
and Mrs. Wllsle Prultt. decorations.
The program follows: Organ mu
sic. 3:30 to 4 o'clock, by Mrs. Eva

Scouts Are Doing
The regular monthly meeting of
the Olrl Scout leaders wiu be Wed
nesday. May 4. Leaders, troop com
mittee members and counoll mem
bers under the Medford council arc
entertaining the leaders of Grants
Pass at an out-of-doors meeting.
Leaders will assemble at scout head
quarters and drive to the new camp
ground In back of the county fair
ground. ' ,
Each leader will bring food se
lected from the following menu:
Bacom wteak, eggs, pancake flour,
butter, Jam, buns or bread, pineapple-buttered
bread. The local
leaders' association will furnish cof
fee and "Some-Mores."
Leaders will dress In clothing suit
able tor hiking. A No. 10 tin oan
is required for each three leaders.
This will be the last meeting of
the leaders' association for this
school year. The next meeting will
be In September with leaders from
Troops 1 and 3 In charge of handi
craft exhibits. Instruction and guest
speakers. Hostess leaders also fur
nish the refreshments for the social
hour.
During the Mother and Daughter
luncheon Saturday the monthly
leaders' bulletin, "The Crater Guide,"
was distributed to all leaders, troop
committee members and council
Camp folders were also given out
at the court of awards. Registration
slips for summer camp will be given
to the leaders Wednesday.
Last minute plans will be made
for the sessions with the regional
nature advisor, Mrs, Elizabeth Price
These sessions will be held Tuesday
and Wednesday. May 10-11.
If at all possible the play day at
the Jackson Hot Springs will be

Prize in Martin Letter Contest
Sixteen entries were received In the
letter-writing contest conducted by
the Jackson County Re-Elect Gover
nor Martin club, It was stated today
by Postmaster Frank DeSouza, chair
man of the board of Judges. All were
of high quality, he said.
The first prise winning letter, writ
ten by Anea Elnora Kelly of 911
Queen Anne avenue, was published
yesterday. The second winner, com
posed by Ruth C. Pechstein of 806
