AS BOViDAE
1. M. Kuuong, biology teacher at
MMford senior high school, gave the
following statement today after view
ing the fossil animal head bones on
display at the Chamber of Com -zneros!
"The head consists of the supraoc
eiptial bone, the two occipital con
dyles and the two horn cores of an
animal belong to the family bovidae,
which Includes the bison (buffalo),
cattle and musk oxen.
"It was covered by glacial and
alluvial drift, which Indicates that
It Is one of the animals of the ceno
lc era, pleistocene epoch. That Is,
we would say, it Is one of the buf
faloes that ranged here some 500
thousand or more years ago, and got
covered up by glacial scourlngs and
wash from the mountain sides. Some
of these cattle hart a spread of
horns of 6 feet. Two sorts of them
have been found In California, one
big one In the Mississippi valley and
another one In Alaska.
"Buffalo heads four and a half
fast between tips of horn -cores have
been picked up In Nebraska. One
of the ancient ones, dug from a hill-
aide near the Republican river meas
ured six feet, two Inches between
horn tips. This Is named bison latl
frons, which means wide - headed
buffalo. He wtus certainly a gigantic
bull to meet out in a cow pasture
alone. The born-cores are about two
thirds the length of the horn. A
horn-core of 18 inches would carry
a horn of 37 inches."

All the thorns of life cannot be
avoided, but it is entirely un
necessary for anyone to suiter
the sharp disappointment that
coffee of unsatisfying quality
invariably brings to the taste.
This was the belief of Hills
Bros, when they began in the
coffee business 60 years ago.
So they eliminated this "thorn"
in coffee drinking by gathering
In, year after year, only the
finest coffees for their blend.
The fragrance of a cup of
freshly-made Hills Bros. Cof
fee announces this excellence.
The flavor is proof that "the
thorn has been left behind.''
