uated from Jullllard school of music,
Hew York. Is now teaching music In
the Talent schools.
"Miss Marlon Luce, a graduate of
University of Minnesota, from Min
neapolis, Is a recent addition to the
Medford high school faculty.
Hlldlng Bengtson, local attorney,
who has spent considerable time In
Norway, Sweden and Denmark, will
peak on Scandinavian people and
their music. Following Carlton Janes
and Mrs. O. I. Drummond will play a
beautiful violin duet, by Orleg.

and David Williams.
Frederick Quetzlaff, prominent
mini baritone and, an outstanding
exponent of German mualo will sing
group of songs, by Adolf Jensen.

Mrs. Roberta Bebb will sing a recent
arrsngement of the beloved "Caprice
Vlennole," by Frtta Krelsler.

Ronald Reedy, superintendent of

Birthday Party
An engagement announcement of
Interest In this city occurred Satur
day evening In Seattle, Washington,
when Mr, and Mrs. Qcorge Johnson
made known the coming martin ge of
their daughter, Borntce Katharyn to
Jack Freeman Oanfleld, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Irving Oanfleld of
Medford.
The engagement was told at an
evening party at the Johnson's home
In Laurel hurst, honoring the birth
day of Mr. Johnson. Betrothal waa
revealed by small daisies placed on
the aalad, the leaves of which opened
and disclosed the names in gold.
Daisies also decorated the dining
room and living room.
Pouring were Mrs. Leonard Qustaf-
son and Mra. Leonard Anderson
Those assisting were the Misses Lor
raine Johnson, Sylvis Erlckaon, Ruth
Gough, and Helen Hall. .
Mr. Oanfleld lived here with his
parents and attended Medford high
school for two years, after which he
graduated from Seattle Pacific high
school. He la now a student at Seat
tle Pacific college, as Is Miss Johnson.
No definite date has been set for the
wedding.

The ceremony took plsce before a
bower of cherry blossoms st 3 o'clock
in the afternoon. The bride wbs
lovely In a gown of white net over
white satin and a fingertip veil of
white net fastened to a band of
twisted satin. She carried a bouquet
of pale pink carnations and was
given In marriage by her father.
Miss Delia Mae Dole, in a gown of
green net attended the bride as maid
of honor. Bridesmaids were the
Misses Predene and Betty Daugherty
who were dressed In becoming pink
net. The three earned bouquets of
sweetpcas.
Shlrrell Doty, brother of the groom,
accM as best man; ushers were, Neal
Curry and Donsld Montelth, brother
of the bride.
Preceding the ceremony, Rev. Mil
lard sang, "At Downing" and follow
ing the service rendered, "I Love You
Truly." Mrs. Mljlard at the piano,
played the wedding maroh.
Following the ceremony, the couple
left for a brief wedding trip to the
coast.

Church Ceremony
At one of the largest weddings of
Easter day. Miss Verna Lapree of
Ashland, formerly of Medford, was
united In marriage to Virgil Davis
of Vsncouver, Wash., at the Adven-
Itst church with the Rev. Adolph
Johnson reading the service.
The church was beautifully decor
ated In an abundance of fruit blos
soms. The bride was gowned In the
traditional white satin dress with
long veil, she carried a sheslth of
white lilies. Mrs. Mary Driver of
Ashlsnd attended her as matron of
honor and Miss Viola Knull was
bridesmaid. The two attendants
wore gowns of rose, and blue with
harmonizing bouquets.
Vernon Lapree and Norman Ca-
rothers wero the groom's attendants.
The two flower girls, the little
Misses Medrell of Ashland, wore long
flowered dresses of period style with
colors hsrmonlzlng with the blos
soms In their baeketa.
Following the wedding a reception
was held at the Lapree home In
Ashland.
The bride, a popular member of
Ashland's young set, also has many
friends In Medford and other sections
of the valley, having lived here for
a number of years before the family
moved to Ashland.
The couple will reside In Vancou

Junior Symphony
Features Medford
Harpist and Chorus
Esther Palmer Day, harpist, and
the Jackson County Teachers Mixed
Chorus, under the direction of Esther
Church Lesks, will be featured on
the Medford Junior Symphony or
chestra concert to be presented Tues
day evening, May 3 In the senior
high school auditorium.
Both Mrs. Day and the chorus, will
be accompanied by the orchestra.
The symphony orchestra Is a major
project of the Medford Zonta club,
under the general direction of Mrs.
Ethelwyn Hoffmann. John R. Knight
organized and conducts the orchestra,
giving his time without charge.
The forthcoming concert Is con
sidered especially appropriate as It
will take place during national music
week.
The orchestra Is now composed ' of
74 members. It would have been
possible to have had several more
members but Isck of Instruments and
the funds to purchase them were
not available.
Contributions are accepted and ap
preciated by Zonta club and the pro
ceeds will be used to purchase addi
tional Instruments. Money, no mat
ter how little amount, may be left at
Ethelwyn Hoffmann's store. The fol
lowing Medford residents have al
ready contributed to this worthy
fund: Mrs. J. C. Collins, Mrs. Mar
garet Fabrick, Mrs. Mary Slmonds,
Mrs. O. D. Frazee. Mrs. W. c. Strahan,
and W. E. Thomas.
Tickets for the concert are now on
