Pioneer Rosebush
On Logtown Site
Carefully Tended
BIO APPLEQATE, April 31.
It's only a humble, old fashioned
yellow rose bush of many briars
and untold blossoms tn blooming
season which grows by the dusty
wayside. Yet some kindly soul hss
given this historic bush at old
Logtown on the Jacksonvllle
Ruch hlphway a gardener's atten
tion this spring. The hardened
eArth around the bush has been
spaded up and enclosed with
rocks, and the branches have been
neatly pruned.
Whether It was Mine Inner re
gard for pioneer tradition or sim
ple love for a common flower
which prompted some person to
do this remains to be guessed. The
bush Is tho only visible s!t;n of
the early dny miners' town there,
and It Is thought proboble that
It was planted 60 years ago by a
member of the John McKee fam
ily, whoso home wa located near
where the bush prows. The bush,
with Its frasrant little flowers,
haa been photographed, by an Ore
ion writer end nature lover.
