Talent Orange met In regular sea
son April 7. with Maator W. W
Roblnaon In the chair. Following the
regular bualneaa meeting five candi
date were given third and fourth
degrees. The drill team dressed in
attractive uniforms put on their first
Initiation. Many compllmenta were
accorded them by vlsltora present.
A rising vote of thanks waa given
Stanley Robblna, drill captain, for
his untiring efforts In drilling the
team.
Following the meeting refresh
ments were served. Nine visitors were
present.
Members of the Orange were
pleased to hear one of the one-act
plays recently given by the Orange

Ore., was a recent guest at the
home of her brother-in-law, Fred

returned south Friday after spend
ing a few daya vacationing on Big
Applegate. He was accompanied by
hie son. Rodney, Lowell Hayea, and

tion, who enjoyed roaming about the
mountains here and otherwise taking
advantage of the outing. Mr. Schmidt,
with his family, will return in June
to epend the summer vacation.
Fond boyhood hopes of a blcyole
all their own spur on ths efforts of
a couple of young wood choppers
here, Dean and Orden Phillips. The
boys have Joined forces with their
father, Orle Phillips, who has estab
lished a profitable wood business at
his ranch, and have set as tiers as
the goal equivalent to a bicycle.
The boys chop down the trees, and
their father completea the product
with his woodsaw.
W. W. (Bill) Allen of Medford,
Republican candldato for county
commissioner, was calling on voters
here Friday.
Mrs. Edward Kubll spent several
daya last week In Portland, where
she visited her husband, who la
convalescing at Emanuel hospital
from an oporatlon performed on his
spine seven weeks ago. Mr. Kubll'a

ern Oregon Normal school faculty
visited Beaver Creek school recently,

young students also are busy with
clay modeling and soap carving, and
have produced some Interesting sam

The Ruch school resumed regular
work this week, following a three
day Easter vacation period. This Is
the first time a grade school here
has been conceded a spring vacation.
The holiday resulted from a de
cision of the school board several

Mr. and Mrs. Vern Csntrall, who
have remained In the Ruch district
for several months; recently moved
to the home there formerly occu
pied by the late J. C. Reynolds.

program.

Short talks by many of the visi
tors was enjoyed, there being a large
number present from Roxy Ann,
Jacksonville, Phoenix, Central Point,
Gold Hill and Bellvlew Oranges. We
were very glad to have these visitors
present and hope we may have the
pleasure of greeting them often.
There were 60 visitors present, with
04 of our own members, giving us
a full house.

at the home of Iva Harper on Colum
bus avenue. The large attendance In
cluded several visitors.
Chairman Ruth Rood called the
meeting to order and the afternoon
waa devoted to arrangements for the
program and rcfrcshmenta for the
next Orange meeting, Tuesday eve
ning, April 10. Each lady la eaked to
bring lunch for two In a paper bag.
Balance of the time was devoted to
cutting and preparing articles for
sewing for the bazaar In the fall.
Refreshments were served by the
hostess assisted by Mrs. Lee Young.

Hla partner accidentally struck him
across the lower Jaw with the dull
bit of hla axe, bruising his lower

recovering at this time.
