fishing season today, leaving early

Prisoners Moved Thirty-one fed
eral prisoners, held temporarily in
the Jackson county Jail, were trans
ferred by train to Portland last night
by Deputy Marshall Paul Hanlln and
a staff of guards. Twenty-one of the
prisoners are awaiting trial in United
States district court at Portland on
charges of selling liquor to Indians.
Ten, charged with various offenses,
are being held for grand Jury action.
Driver Tests Applicants for li
censes or permits to operate cars or
trucks will be exnmlned hero tomor

the examiner in council chambers
on tho top floor of city hall. Both
road and written examinations will
be held. Familiarity with the drivers'
manuel is necessary to pass tho ex
aminations, it was emphasized by

tional forest will be represented at
two training camps this spring. The
first, on range management, will be
held May 16 to 27 at Mill Creek on
the Ochoco national forest. It will

new ranger of the Lake o' Woods dis
trict. The second, on timber manage
ment, will be held June 6 to 15 at
Soneca on the Malheur national for
est. It will be attended by H. C. Obye.
