conclusion of Its two-day session in
Grants Pass yesterday. Dr. H. S.
Relchard of Grants Pass was elected
moderator.
Ministerial commissioners named
to the general assembly meeting In
Philadelphia. May 36, were the Ret.
Kngvald Iverson of Medford, and
James M. Johnson of Gold Beach.
Alternates were the Rev. William C.
Fauchette of Roseburg and the Rev.
Forrest C. Travaille of Merrill. Elder
commissioners named were M. C.
Gaston of Grants Pass and Charles
Hoffmetster of Tule Lake. Cal.
The Rev, John D. Habblck received
a call as pastor from the North Bend
church, which he has been serving
as stated supply.
Elder George W. Wheatlet of
Klamath Falls was examined by
Presbytery with a view toward his
coming under the car of Presby
tery. This was referred to Synod.
New chairmen of permanent com
mittees were appointed as follows:
National missions, the Rev. J. H.
Edgar, Ashland; foreign missions, the
Rev. E. E. Mc Far land. Phoenix;
Christian education, the Rev. H. E,
Relchard, Grants Pass; pensions,
Elder J. W. Sanders, Tule Lake.
Committee on bills and overtures
was named to Include the Rev. W.
C. Fancette, Roseburg, the Rev. J. M.
Johnson, Gold Beach and Elder Nye
Nupp. Judicial committee was named
as the Rev. J. E. Edgar, the Rev. J.
W. Hoyt and Elder Grizzle.
The Fir Point conference will be
held In the churches the last Sun
day In May.

PIONEERJASSES
Roselna May Cushman, 69, one
of the early pioneers of southern
Oregon, passed away at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. John W. Hall,
Sams Valley,, Oregon. Wednesday at
11:20 a.m. after an Illness of several
months. Mrs. Cushman was born In
Pawnee, Neb., January 22, 1869.
She came to southern Oregon with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Vogell. at the age of 7, and they
Immediately took residence In Sams
Valley, Ore. She attended school at
Trail and the Antloch school In
Sams Valley, later she met and was
united In marriage to William H.
Cushman at Jacksonville, In 1887.
Mr. Cushman passed away In 1922.
Mrs. Cushman was a fine Christian
woman, wonderful mother and neigh
bor, and will be missed by a host
f friends. She leaves to mourn her
departure four daughters, and four
sons, Mrs. John Hall of Sams Valley:
Mrs. Fred Warner, Trail; Mrs. Ida
B. Rowe, Medford: Mrs. Jay Ed mis -ton,
Houston, Texas, and Wallace
Ed, Charles and John Cushman, all
of Trail, also 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at
the graveside in the Trail cemetery
Saturday at 3 p.m.. Rev. D. E. Mil
lard officiating. Perl Funeral Homo
In charge of the arrangements.
SEEK DISSOLUTION
TREE PILING BAN
An answer to the amended com
plaint of Thomas L. Taylor against
the state department of agriculture.
County Agent Robert G. Fowler and
Fruit inspector Howard Warner, filed
In circuit court, seeks dissolution of
the temporary restraining order pro
hibiting the removal of asserted dis
ease of Insect Infected trees on the
Ttaylor orchard.
The answer holds that the county
agent and fruit Inspector acted under
their constituted authority last De
cember when they removed a num
ber of trees. It Is also claimed that
Taylor, given written notice "to abate
the nuisance, neglected, failed and
refused to do so."
Taylor procured a temporary re
straining order last January against
the county agent.
The state attorney general and
District Attorney F. J. Newman jTf
acting as counsel for the officials.
Attorney Gus Newbury represents Taylor.
