The tragic death of William Cham
bers was a terrible shock to every
one. Camp was closed on Monday
so that all could attend the funeral
held at Perl's Funeral Parlor In Med
ford. It was beautiful service, Rev.
Divine giving a perfect sermon.
Mrs, May Qeppert was In the os
teopathic hospital due to elfocta of
pneumonia which stiffened her hip
Joints, making It Impossible for her
to walk. She Is slowly Improving
and can walk little now but has to
be careful.

Fatal For Pioneer
BAKER, Nov. 33, (AP) Mrs. Ida
died this morning in ft hospital as
M. Butler, pioneer Baker resident,
died this morning In ft hospital as
the result of burns sustained Sunday
morning when her clothing caught
fire from her kitchen stove as the
was cooking.
Mrs. Baker was taken to the hos
pital Immediately, but she never ral
lied from U effect of the burn.

quilt for her as a result of a Thanks
giving box sent her recently by the
Beaver creek Sunday school. The
lady Is an Invalid as a result of an
automobile accident several years ago,
and local Interest In her situation
was aroused through Information
from Rev. D. D, Randall, Sunday
school missionary of Medford. Sun
day school funds were used In sup
plying a portion of her gift bos, and
the remainder consisted of Individual
contributions.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvln Bostwlck of
Waldport, Ore., are the parents of
a twin son and daughter born October
36. The youngsters have been named
Harry and Hester. Mr. Bostwlck is a
nephew of Mrs, Arls Throckmorton,
and Is well known here.
Mrs. Zenna Jennings of Kerby Is ft
now resident of Ruch, occupying ft
house owned by John Matney. Her
son and daughter have entered the
Ruch school In the third and sixth
grades.
Horace Kllham of Portland, repre
senting the Kllham stationery store
of that city, was ft business visitor
in Medford last week, and while In
this vicinity was a guest of his aunt,
Mrs. Maud Kubll. Mr. Kllham visited
Medford firms In the absence of the
regularly employed salesman of the
Portland store, who was HI.
M. T. Dawson and George Dawson
of Rosoburg have been guests at the
home of the former's son, Ben Daw
son, for several days. The eldet Mr.
Dawson expects to remain here for a
short time.

urday evening by the pupils and

afternoon and Beaver Creek Is sched
uled to give their entertainment at
Upper Applegate Orange hall Wed
nesday evening. The Orange will be

that Wllber Cameron has been HI at
his home In- Jacksonville and la un

Grants Pass Saturday to visit her
very young nephew, Ronald Colby,

A number of Apple gate r were In
terrupted In their weekly shopping
trip to Medford Saturday evhen the
Applegate overflowed Its banks at the
Frank Preston ranch and blocked tiie
road with driftwood. A few motor
ists braved the receding waters with
their cars and were stalled . County
workmen were on the scene Immedi
ately to clear the road, however, The
private bridge crossing the pig Apple
gate at the Preston ranch was de
stroyed by the high water.
Mrs. Hattle Logan of Jacksonville
la here to spend the Thanksgiving
period with her brother, Ansll Ollson.
Fred Offenbacher, who underwent
an emergency appendectomy at the
Sacred Heart hospital two weeks ago,
was able to go Tuesday to the home
of his daughter, Mrs. Hale Wheeler,
In Medford, for recuperation.

returned home from their honeymoon

Robertson. They are living In Greeley,
Colo. They came here for Thanks
giving. E. M. Lundell returned from mov
ing Mr, and Mrs. Thomas Grow and
family to New berg, Oregon, last week.
Homer Martin, Hollls and Stanley,
went to Medford Nov. 31 to see Mel
vln Martin who had been confined to
a hospital there, but had returned
home Nov. 19, so they motored to
Beagle to see him. He Is much Im
proved now.

Rule, Texas, Nov. 18.

family returned from a two weeks
trip to Hood River, Oregon where
