Chorus to Rehearse Jackson coun
ty teachers' chorus will meet for re
hearsal at the county courthouse
auditorium Saturday morning at 10
o'clock, Esther Church Leake, direc
tor, announced today. All members
and those Interested in joining are
urged by Mrs. Leake to attend,
Court Citation Ira D. Chtlders, 48,
of Rogue River was cited by state
police yesterday to appear today in
Gold Hill Justice court on a charge
of operating a vehicle with Improper
license plates. State police said Chil
ders was using light delivery plates
on a truck.
To Occupy Pulpit A. W. Shepherd
will occupy the pulpit of the Phoenix
Presbyterian church at the 11 o'clock
service Sunday morning. The Rev.
E. P. McFarland, pastor, was called
unexpectedly to southern California
because of the death of his brother-in-law.

Enlists In Army Announcement
made today of the army enlist
ment of OUbert N. Debusk, son of
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Debusk of Phoenix.
Debusk was accepted tentatively for
enlistment November 15 at the re
crutlng station In city hall here, In
charge of Sgt. Willis S. Estep. He
passed his final qualifying examina
tion : at Vancouver, Barracks, Wash.,
and was officially enlisted yesterday
for service In the field artillery In
Hawaii. He was to go Immediately
to San Francisco whence he will sail
for Hawaii on the next outbound
transport.

Bardwell, manager of the Oregon-Washington-California
Pear League,
and Dave Wood, manager of the Pal
mer corporation. Mr. Reter, Capt.
Tuttle and Mr. Wood are directors
of the pear bureau.
Kittredge 111 Frank A. Kittredge
of San Francisco, regional director of
the national park service, was to be
discharged this afternoon from Sacred
Heart hospital whither he was taken
upon his arrival here by train from
Portland yesterday morning. Mr.
Kittredge, who was here Tuesday en
route north, was returning to Med
ford to confer further with E. P.
Leavitt, superintendent of Crater Lake
national park. He became suddenly
and acutely 111 on the train and Dr.
Charles T. Sweeney, who happened
to be aboard, was summoned by the
porter who knew the doctor. Mr.
Kittredge was treated on the train
and taken to the hospital upon his
arrival here. Hiss Illness turned out
to be nothing serious, Dr. Sweeney
stated." Mr. Kittredge will probably
remain here a couple of days before
continuing to San Francisco.
Crater Weather It was raining
hard In Crater Lake national park
this morning, headqunrters here an
nounced. Skiing conditions were de
scribed as poor. The highway was
reported open to the west entrance,
through the park and to Fort Klam
ath and Klamath Falls. Roads with
in the park were open, Including the
one to the lake rim, the report said
Chains, however, were advised. Total
snow depth at headquarters in the
park was given as 39 inches. Weather
at Oregon Caves was described as
cloudy. All roads are open, no snow
having fallen there yet. Guide ser
vice through the caves Is available
and will be maintained all winter.
Weather reports are broadcast over
short wave radios from Crater lake, j
Oregon Caves and the Lava Beds
dally at 8 a. m. and 4:30 p. m. on
2604 kilocycles. Station call letters 1
are KNLE for Annie Spring In Crater
Lake national park, KNLQ for park
headquarters, KNLI for Oregon Caves.
KNLH for the Lava Beds and KNLF
for Medford. Persons having short
wave receiving sets may pick up the

INJURED IN UPSET

ert Redhead, 17, of Klamath Falls,
Ore., and Mrs. E. B. Pages were seri
ously Injured today when their auto
mobile overturned on a slippery high
way south of Arbuckle.
Edwin D. Pox and Russell Roach t
also of Klamath Falls, were not seri
ously hurt. The four are employes
of the Western Union Telegraph com
pany and wre on a vacation trip.
Redhead, who was driving Mrs.
Page's car, received a "skull fracture,
and his condition was regarded .as
critical.
SEASON'S FIRST SNOW
PORTLAND, Nov. 19,UP) While a
heavy rain fell here today, sending
the, November total past the average
for the entire month, snow began
falling In the Columbia gorge, the
first of the season there.
Precipitation here in the past 24
hours totaled nearly an Inch. The
figure for the month to date was
6.16 inches, compared to the average
oft 6.10.
Pour to eight inches of snow fell
near Hood River and two Inches was
measured at The Dalles, but it
changed to rain as the day passed.

Redmond, former vlce?cbalrman of
the third congressional district of the
Townsend pension plan, denied re
ports today that a group unfriendly
to Dr. Francis Townsend, plan found
er, had seized control of the area
at a stormy session Tuesday tn which
three officials left office.
"" Redmond claimed that former
Chairman E. H. Wright was removed
by a vote of the board rather than
being asked to resign. Wright, claim
ed Redmond, then sided with flvo
others on the 11-man board to re
move John A. Jeffrey as manager,
after which Redmond said he resign
ed. He denied that the faction which
removed Jeffrey was opposed to Dr.
Townsend.
COMMONWEALTH CALLS
FOR WAR ON REACTION

.Annual Shangle baby salon will be
held on the mezzanine floor of the
Hotel Medford Sunday, Monday and
Tuesday.
Photographs of all the babies en
tered in the yearly salon will be on
exhibit for the three days and the
public is invited to view them. The
prize winner will be indicated and
photos of some of the prizes also will
be displayed. There are 110 baby
photographs in the salon.
Judging will be done privately to
morrow evening. Judges will be Ma
rion Ady and Lucille Burtis, art
teachers at Southern Oregon Normal
school In Ashland, and A. Morris El
lett, now associated with Rychard
here. None of the Judges knows any
of the babies in the contest, Mr.
Shangle Btated.
Five prizes will be awarded in each
of three divisions. The divisions
are three months to a year, one to
three years and three, to nix years
of age.
The salon In post years has been
held In the hotel lobby but was
transferred this year to the mezza
nine floor because the lobby is being
redecorated.
