marriage was a recent event, were
the inspiration for a no-host party
arranged Sunday evening last by a
group of friends. Cocktails were

berg, after which the group went to

district governor of Rotary. Mr. and

of the week and he addressed the
local Rotarlans at their weekly meet
ing the same day.

which Mrs. Myrna, Prink, worthy
matron of the group, entertained
Tuesday evening at the home of Mra.
Charles T. Sweeney.
The table was beautifully decorat
ed with a centerpiece of bronze and
gold chrysanthemums and yellow
tapers. Contract bridge followed the
dinner, high prices going to Mrs.
Meta Gilbert and Mra. Lillian Gray.

Miss Katharine Oliver, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Oliver, became the
bride of Paul B. Newcomb, eon of
Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Newcomb of
Los Angeles, at an Impressive cere
mony Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock
at the Sacred Heart Catholic church

The bride waa given In marriage
by her father and wore a gown of
white eatln, made In princess style
with a alight train. Her flnger-tlp
length veil waa caught at the back
of her head with a spray of orange
blossoms. She carried a shower bou
quet of white Japanese chrysanthe
mums and maiden hair fern.
Miss Elsie Oliver, sister of the
bride, waa maid of honor and Miss
Martha DeSouza and Mlsa Helen Mc
Donnell were bridesmaids. They wore
taffeta formal of peach, yellow and
blue, respectively, with matching off
the face hat and gloves. Each car
ried a bouquet of pompom chry
santhemums with maiden hair fern.
Lewell Dupray acted aa best man
for Mr. Newcomb. Jack Marahall and
Warren Loffer were ushers.

ceremony. Eusebe Dallalre presided
at the organ and played the procea-

A wedding breakfast waa served al
the home of the bride's parent fol
lowing the service for thirty-two
guests. Assisting were Mr. Frank
DeSouza, Mra. Joe Marshall and Mrs.
Frank Harden. Out-of-town guests
for the event were Mrs. N. B. New
comb, the bridegroom' mother, and
hla brother, Thomaa Newcomb, both
of Los Angeles, and Mlsa Josephine
Oliver of San Bernardino, California.
The couple left later for a ten day
wedding trip to southern 'California.
For her golng-away outfit, the bride
wore oxford gray man tailored suit
with dark accessories. The couple
will be at home to their friends at
Everett Court upon their return.

Word haa been received here of the
marriage of Miss June Hooker,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A.
Hooker to William E. Doyle of Los
Angeles at a simple ceremony Friday.

Entertain Ashland
Club at Luncheon
An outstanding event of the week
will be the luncheon and entertain
ment for which Medford Ladles' of
Elk will be host to the Ashland
club Tuesday afternoon at the Elks
temple. A delegation of forty-five
members Is expected from Ashland
and local membera are planning to
make thla one of the highlights of
the club year.
Luncheon will be served at 1
o'clock, to be followed by cards, pool,
bowling and prizes will be awarded

The marriage of Mra. Katharine
Satterlee, daughter of Mr. and Mra.
Charlea Holloway and Arthur Muse,
both of Medford. will be solemnized
at a quiet ceremony this afternoon
at 2 o'clock at the Methodist parson
age in Ashland. The Rev. Melville
T. Wire, pastor of the church, will
officiate.
A dinner will be held after the
service at the home of the bride'a
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. William Holloway for members
of the families.
The couple will reside In Medford.
Gilberts Leaving
for California
Mr. and Mrs C. E. Gilbert (Betty
Janes), are leaving Monday for Cali
fornia and from there will go to
Yellowstone National park to spend
the winter. Mrs. Gilbert has been
visiting her parents Mr. and Mra. W.
C. Janes for sevehai weeks and Mra.
Gilbert arrived in the city a few
days ago.
