book by Junes Weldon Johnson on

Crater Lake Council Girl
Scouts Directs Organization
The Girl Scouta of Medford are an
especially active organization and
thla paet week observed the twenty
fifth anniversary of the national
founding with many apeclal features.
The scout program la directed by the
Crater Lake council which Includes
several prominent women of the
community, and Mra. Marjorie Skeet-
era Pena, the local executive.
Mrs. William Holloway la commis
sioner and dlrecta the council per
sonnel. Mrs. O. B. Morrow la deputy
commissioner and Mrs. Jack Heyland
la secretary-treaaurer.

The council meeta on Wednesday
of each week with the badges and
awarda committee featured. In ad
dition to the regular council mem
bers on this committee are Mra
Porter J. Neff and Mrs. J. c. Boyle.
This group selects the tiO examiners
and Instructors for thy proficiency
badges earned by the Individual girl
scouta.
Mrs. Pena, as the executive, carries
out the plans and suggestions from
the local council and gives training
courses for the lcadera and assists In
the leadera' organization. She visits
the troops and helps tho leadera with
their individual group. She also
publishes a monthly bulletin for
these leadera and will direct the
summer camp at Lake of the Woods
(Camp McLoughlln).
A new class for leaders who are
unable to attend the general course
In the afternoon will atart Tuesday
and will be held from 7 to 9 p m
at scout headquarters. On Wednes
day from 1 :30 to 3 :30 p. m.. the troop
progress course will be held for all
leadera having girl scouts beyond the
tenderfoot rank In their troops.
Crater Lake Guild
Entertained Monday
Crater Lake Guild of the First
Presbyterian, church met Monday
evening at the home of Mrs. Walter
Fltnn on the Jacksonville highway.
The meeting opened with the reading
of the minutes of the previous meet
ing and the appointment of three
new commltteea. These were mem- .
bershlp, Miss Margaret Kerr, chair-
man. Mrs. Darren F. Huson and Miss
Edna Elfert: transportation, Mra. i
weldon McBee and friendship, Mra.
Mary Croasfleld.
The reporta of the treaaurer and
of atandlng commltteea were heard, i
after which Mra. E.F. Mcrarland ol
the Phoenix Presbyterian church, led I
the devotions and gave an Inspiring j
talk on "Building for Eternity."
Plans for thv December meetings 1

cided to hold two meetinga In De
cember to enable the guild to make
Its customary distribution of Christ
mas glfta. The regular meeting will
be held December 6 at the home of
Mrs. Frank Ray and a Christmas
party will be given December 1 at
