Bund to Meet Accordion band will
meet this evening at 7:30 at the
Baldwin piano shop. The group ap
peared at a special assembly at the
Southern Oregon Normal at Ashland
Wednesday morning.
Grange to Meet Roxy Ann Orange

session. All members are asked to
attend.
On Inspection Tour H. 0. Obye,
assistant supervisor of the Rogue
River national forest, and Paul Brln-
son, Junior forester, left this morn
ing to Inspect logging operations be
ing carried on at Chemult by the
Chlloquln Lumber company. Prom
Chemult, Mr, Brlnson was to return
to Union Creek for a conference) with
foresters tomorrow. Mr, Obye was to
continue to Klamath Palls to trans
act other official business.
Religious Census A religious cen
sus of all companies in the Medford
CCO district Is being taken. The
census will show the religious faiths
recognized by the army: Catholic,
Protestant and Jewish. It will not
be broken down Into separate denom
inations of the Protestant religion
or differentiate between reformed and
orthodox Jews. The census will be
used as a guide In determining the
religious services desired in the vari
ous camps.
Membership Drive Yearly member
ship drive of Medford post of the
American Legion la In full swing,
with 100 Legionnaires having paid-up
dues, It was announced today by Lee
Oarlock, membership chairman. The
drive closes December 13, date of
the American Legion district confer
ence to be held In Medfrod, Oarlock
stated. The local post expects to
have reached Its quota by that time.
All Legionnaires wishing to pay their
dues may either see Oarlock or mall
their checks, he explained.

Mrs. t'pp Returns Mrs. Louis J.
Ppp. who haa bean traveling In the
east for the past alt weeks, returned 1
to Medford Thursday. She visited
her old home at Dacatur, HI., after an
absence of 13 years. In settling an
estate aha discovered that oil fields
had been opened and were In oper
ation both north and south of the
family's properties. Her return Jour
ney included a trip through the
southern states and a visit in New
Orleans. Mrs. Upp was more favor
ably Impressed than ever with south
ern Oregon upon her return, she said.
Durham Speaks Adjutant O. R.
Durham of the Salvation Army spoke
to the leaders' association of the
Qlrl Scouts the past week on com
munity service projects. He outlined
a definite plan of organisation and
listed numerous activities to be car
ried out each month, lncludtng
monthly distribution of new maga
zines, cheerful pictures, scrap-books.
flowers, stories, etc, for the seldom
visited children of the hospitals. He
also suggested campftre programs for
all the children In the community
and special Christmas parties. Ad
jutant Durham gave tangible sug
gestions which all the leaders said
they appreciated and the projects
will be developed by the scouts In
their program of service to the com

A Beck's bakery bread truck, driven
by Walter Alfred Prady of 741 Mc-
Andrews road and a machine operat
ed by James L. Kershaw of route
4 collided late yesterday afternoon
on the Crater Lake highway about
five miles from Medford, a city police
report said today.
Although neither of the drivers
were Injured, the vehicles received
considerable damage.
