Music Presented
for Club Program
The Medford Muslo club held an
Interesting and enthusiastic meeting
early In the week at Mra. Ettle Kurtz'
studio with Mrs. Katherlne Wendt In
charge of the program, the subject
being "Music of Scotland and Eng
land." Mrs. Esther Palmer Day played
three harp solos, "Annie Laurie,"
"Plow Gently Sweet Afton" and
"Autumn."
Mrs. Margaret Fabrlrk read a paper
on Scottish music, the data being com
piled from an old manuscript which
has been In her family for many
yean. A group of cello solos waa
given by Chester Woods Including
"On the Bonnie Banks of loch
Lomond." "Highland Mary," "Salut
D"Lamour" and "When Love Is Kind."
Miss Elizabeth clementa sang "My
Lovely Cella" and "Shepherd, Thy
Demeanor Vary."
The next meeting of the group will
be held November 22 at the Baldwin
Piano shoppe with "Music of China
and Japan" the theme for the eve
ning.: Mrs. Lois Young will be In
charge of the program.

DETROIT. Oct. 29. (AP) Nine of

Automobile Workers of America filed
suits In Wayne county circuit court
today asking 91.000,000 damages from
the Ford Motor company and Harry
H. Bennett, Ford personnel director,
for injuries allegedly resulting from
fighting near the Ford Rouge plant
May 36.
The fighting accompanied an
U.A.W. attempt to distribute union
literature at the plant gates. The
suits name the Ford company, Ben
nett and other persons designated
an agents or employes of the com-,
pany.
1286 Veterans Seek
Lands In Tule Lake
KLAMATH FALLS, Oct. 29. (AP)
A total of 1285 ex-service men and
more than 100 non-veterans entered
applications for the 69 homestead
units on Tule Lake, CaU to ba dis
tributed In January, the bureau of
reclamation announced today after a
final count.
Applications are still straggling in.
but none received after the deadline
last Monday night will be considered.
Veterans are given preference In
atloting the homesteads, and non
veterans will qualify for the tracts
only In the unlikely event any are
left over after the veterans' qualifi
cations have been examined, bureau
officials said.

Sets Selling Date
ROSEBURO, Ore., Oct. 29. (API
Following completion of plans for
opening killing plants at Canby, Al
bany. Eugene and Roseburg. the Ore
gon Turkey Growers, through Mc
Klnley Huntington, president, an
nounced today that marketing will
start November 4.
Supplementing the usual pools of
the fall and winter season, the asso
ciation this year will maintain four
plants where growers may deliver live
turkeys to be killed and dressed, and
these will be shipped out In carload
lots at frequent intervals, Huntington
report.
