golden wedding anniversary of his

ited Lester's rose gardens on Orchard
Home drive October 17. Mr. Lester
has a very choice collection of 110
varieties of roses growing on a one
acre field.
High school Junior class entertain
ed their friends and the faculty at a
party Thursday night with about 80
present. Girls were required to wear
their dreeses backward and the boys
had their shirts backward. Names
of each one present were written on
boards with letters In each name in
reverse and they had to be so called
when addressed or the person speak
ing would be penalised. They also
enjoyed a spelling be when all words
had to be spelled backward. It la
reported two of the faculty members
went down first. An Indoor base
ball game was played with four
teams. The Csrdlnals won. After an
evening spent In fun, refreshments
were served.
Dinner guests at the G. O. Sanden
home October 18 were Mr. and Mrs.
J. O. Vlall of Phoenix and Junior

recently visiting the former's parents,

companied them and apent two weeks

Miss Mattie Bowie ipent two weeks
recently visiting her alster, Mrs. Anna
Dickey, who hss been spending the
summer at Buckhorn Mineral opnngi.
In response to the appeal sent out
for a needy family, many laoiea gain,
ered at the Presbyterian church and
made three qullte, mended garmenta,
etc. There was also a very generous
donation of produce and groceries,
and thanks are extended to all who
had a part In It.

Gold HIU grade school baseball
team played the local grade team
here Wednesday and won, 8-.
The last week of October Is to be
a very busy and Interesting week for
many local folk. Readers are re
minded of the turkey dinner to be
put on by the Grange ladlea Wed
nesday evening at the old court
house. This will be followed by a
dance.
Thursday evening the P.-T. A. Hal
lowen'en carnival will hold forth In
the gym. Friday and Saturday the
teachers will attend the teachers' In
stitute at Aahland, when IS picked
members of each of the local high
school glee clubs and eight orches

On Wednesday night, October 37,
the high school football team will go
