Med ford physician and surgeon, will
be installed tonight aa president oi
the Oregon State Medical society
which is now holding Its 63rd an
nual convention in Salem. He will
succeed Dr. Charles E. Seara oi
Portland.
Upon hla Installation tonight. Dr.
Sweeney will have held the highest
Dr. ' Chas T. Sweeney
honors that can be bestowed by
medical organizations in the north
west region which embraces six
states and British Columbia.
He has been president ol the
Pacific Northwest Medical associa
tion, which engages in scientific re
search, the Southern Oregon Medi
cal association and the Jackson
County Medical society.
Dr. Sweeney is the first southern
Oregon physician in many years to
head the state society.
The Oregon State Medical society
and the Jackson County Medical
society are subsidiaries of the Amer
ican Medical association and are
consultants for the drafting of legis
lation pertaining to the health wel
fare of the public.
Dr. and Mrs. Sweeney left here
Tuesday morning, going first to Eu
gene where the doctor addressed the
weekly luncheon -meeting of the
Rotary club at noon arid attended
a meeting of the Lane County Med
ical society in the evening. They
continued Wednesday to Salem lor
the state society sessions, Mrs.
Sweeney attending meetings of the
auxiliary.

in an address before the Med ford
aerie in the Armory last night.
Mr. Foster gave a resume of the
work accomplished nationally by the
lodge and outlined his program for
the stAte. He .said he was himself
Intensely Interested In the young
people of the state and declared the
lodge could find no more worthy,
objective than to promote activities
designed to bring out the best qual
ities of Oregon's youths.
The speaker stated he was working
out a detailed program of youth ac
tivities for the Oregon aeries. The
program, he said, woujd be ready for
nnouncement soon.

ford high school male glee club in
a program of songs. The club was
directed by Floy Young and her
young proteges were accorded hearty
and prolonged applause. Appearance
of the club waa arranged through
E. H. Hedrlck. school superintendent.
A dance waa held at the conclusion
of the entertainment program.
Mr. Foster will address the Ashland
aerie tonight and a large delegation
of Med ford Eagle planned to attend
the Lit hi a City session.
Medford aerie auxiliary will observe
its sixth birthday Sunday. In honor
of the occasion a covered dish dlnnev
will be served In the Armory at 5:30
