Abbey, local dealer, who Just return
ed from the Nash, convention In Chi
cago.
This gain, he said. Is one of the
most sensational bulsnees Increases
in the recent history of the automo
bile Industry. It repreents 100.2 per
cent Increase over the Nexh Motors
business in 1936, when 42,939 cars
were built, he stated.
Distributors from every state and
Canada were at the cnventlon, at
which the new 1938 cars were un
rated for the aaJes organization.
Guards stood watch over the con
vention hall preventing prying eyes
from seeing the new automobiles,
which are reported to contain con
ditioned air systems for winter driv
ing. These are the first oars to be
presented with this modern conven
lence, and the system la being guard
ed until publle announcement of the
1938 Nash models later In the month
Complete description of the condi
tioned air system for winter driving
was not revealed to the public by the
Nash officials, but the Innovation
was wildly cheered by the 1450 dis
tributors and members of their par
ties when it was presented. It is
known that the system represents
the first application of thermo-dy'
nemles to the interior of an automo
bile.
The system, they point out, la based
upon entirely new principles of car
rant nation and besting, and estab
lishes an entirely new conception of
motoring comfort.
Nash presents 38 new features for
1988. according to Abbey, who

No Varmint Action
No definite action was taken by
the budget committee yesterday on
the question of employment of fed
eral varmint hunters. Instead of the
present bounty system, for eradica
tion of animals preying on stock In

U. 8. biological aurvey attended the
session.
The budget committee offered to
employ. the hunters and abolish the
bounty system, provided live nunters
would be employed, with county pay
ments at 8600 per year. The wild
animal bounty fund was $4000 Isst
year and means a 1000 per year
savings The federal bureau can pro
vide but two hunter possibly three.
The matter was deferred until a
more definite answer could be made
by the government agency.
It was also supgested. without final
action, that Verne Hopkins. Dead In

annually slay on an average of 100
varmints, county records show.
