machine driven by Carl Nebb or Med
ford Sunday morning as the latter
backed out of a private driveway into
West Jackson boulevard, accord
ing to a city police report today.
An auto driven by Harold Wilson of
Central Point was hit by an un
identified hit-run motorist Sunday
night near Huber's packing plant,
Wilson reported to city police. Minor
ear damage was done.

Road Program Outlined Road and
highway commute, of the Jackson
County Chamber of Commerce held
Its first meeting of the fall this
morning. The road and highway
rltuatlon In this section was analyzed
and a program of activities outlined.
Ben E. Harder, committee chairman,
presided.
Going to S. F. Miss Pat Carlon,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H.
Carlon of Kings Highway, left last
night for Salem where she will
spend a few days visiting Jack Hen
derson and his mother. From Salem
Miss Carlon will go to San Francisco
where she Is to be one of Pstrlcla
Morgan's models. In the Bay City Miss
Carlon plans to take up model pho
tography.
' Drivers Cited Cited to appear In
Justice court this afternoon for
overloading trucks were Paul O. Man
ning and Paul M. Overby of Portland.
Both were cited by state police Sun
day afternoon on the pacific high
way. Rafael C. Benson of Medford was
cited by state police for speeding
truck on the Pacific highway near
Talent. He will appear October 18 In
Justice court. State police said he was
traveling 4 miles an hour.
Enroll In CCC Nineteen Jackson
county men were enrolled yesterday j
In the CCC here and were assignee
today to Company 3904. Camp South
Umpqua Palls. A noticeable Increase
In CCC applicants has resulted from
the new regulations which permit un
employed young men to enroll even
though their families are not on a
relief status. Young men between
the ases of 17 and 3H years, unmar
ried and In need of employment, are
eligible under the new regulations.

Army Man Coming Staff Sgt. Jen
nings D. Lowman, chief clerk at
Portland headquarters of MaJ. H. D.
Bagnall, army recruiting officer for
thla district. Is expected to visit the
recruiting sub-station In city hall
here Friday. Sgt. Lowman was sta
tioned In Medford during the sum
mer of 1933 as sergeant-major st CCC
headquarters. He Is now on a tour
of all recruiting sub-stations of the
Portland district. He will be accom
panied by Mrs. Lowman and their
daughter Jean Pearle.
Easles Meeting Regular weekly
meeting of the Eagles lodge will be
held Thursday night In the armory
with a dance featuring the program.
Music will be furnished by Dynge's
orchestra. Fred Powell, president,
announced that 80 applications for
membership had so tar been received
during the present drive which will
end November 7. He also stated that
the goat which A. H. Banwell won
last week and later farmed out. will
be again presented to the member
of the low membership team whose
name Is drawn.

of 138 Vancouver avenue returned by
train last night from Corvallls where
she spent the week-end violtlng her
son, Raymond Dougherty. She was
nccomrjanled by her small daughter

estry after completing a year at
Southern Oregon Normal school In
Ashland. Mrs. Rlnabarger and Nancy

given Saturday evening at the Hotel
Medford by O. A. Olsen, branch man
ager of Eugene. W. E. Cox, manager
of the Medford branch, and Mrs. Cox
were honor guests, Mr. Cox's organlaa
tlon having won the team trophy for
leadership In sales three times. Mr.
Olsen presented Mr. Cox with a wrist
watch for hia dependability and loy
alty and double day sales and a sil
ver and gold belt buckle for the long
est chain of unbroken sales. He was
also awarded a wrist watch for lead
ing sales, which he In turn presented
to Mrs. Cox. H. H. Oearhart of Ash

presented Clyde O'Nell of Klamath
Falls with a wrist watch as a personal

PASSES AT AGE OF 81
Ells, Vromari. who was 81 years of
ae Oct. 3 and a resident of In and
near (Sold Hill for the past M years,
passed away at her home thero early
this morning after an Illness of three
week.
Mrs. Vroman was the wife of Cy
re mis Vroman 9t who survives. They
came to Gold Hill from Minnesota.
She was a member of the Gold Hill
Rebekah lodge and Relief Corps for
many years and will b greatly miss
ed by both aa well as by a host of
friends.
She was married to Mr. Vroman at
Plpen Lake, Wisconsin January fl.
1873 after which they moved to Min
nesota where they resided for a short
time before comln to Oregon.
Besides her husband, she leaves
seven children. Nellie Smith. Gold
Hill; Ernest Vroman, Yoncaiia. Ore
con: Oeorce, Princeton. Calif.. Pearl
Williams and Betty Johnson. Ouns
