Mr. and Mrs. Hugh P. Boyle of
Nampe. Idaho, are the parents of an
eight-pound daughter, born October
2. Mrs. Boyle will be remembered as
Blanche Applegate of Medford.

A. L. Armstrong of Medford. arrived

at Mapleton for a short visit with
relatives end friends.

Mrs. J. V. Mendrola and baby
daughter, Darlene La von, and mother,
Mrs. Irene Jones, left today on a
motor trip to Tocoma, Wash. They
will visit with Mrs. Mendrola's
brother, A. W. Jones, and expect to
be away about ten days.

Weekly Luncheon
Thirty were present for the weekly
ladies' day at Rogue River Valley
Golf club Wednesday. Tho luncheon
was in charge of Mrs. Sam Colton,
Mrs. Jean Lincoln and Mrs. H. B.
Kellom.
A two-ball foursome was played
with high handicaps paired with low
handicaps. Mrs. William Vawter and
Mrs. Oeortre Coddlne won prizes.

land district, Is spending a few days
In the valley as the guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Nlon Tucker, at the latter's
lodge. Rogue Roost, on Rogue river.
Mrs. Honeyman wio is a close per
sonal friend of President and Mrs
Roosevelt, recently rode on the presi
dential train from Boise. Idaho to
Portland, and la a frequent guest at
the White House while in Washing
ton, D. C.
Department Head to
Pay Official Visit
Mrs. Dolly Brown, of Corvallls,
state department 'president of the
Women's Relief corps will be present
at a special meeting of the group to
morrow at 1 p. m. at the armory
Mrs. Brown has just returned from
tne national convention of the corps
in Madison, Wisconsin and will give
reports of the meeting.
Mrs. Brown Is making her official
visit to southern Oregon and Is
spending Friday In Ashland, Satur
day In Medford and Monday In Cen
tral Point. Visitors from other corps
of the district are Invited to the ses
sion. Refreshments will be served
after the program and business.
Farewell Party Is
Arranged for Couple
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bowman and
family of Jacksonville, who are leav
ing soon to make their home in
Welser, Idaho, were honor guests at
a farewell dinner and surprise party
given at. the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John Hue tiers, in Jacksonvll le on
Thursday evening, September 30.
A host of friends and members ol
St. Peter's Lutheran church of Med
ford arrived after dinner and pleas
antly surprised the Bowmans. The
Ladles' Aid society presented the
couple with a lovely 53-ptece set of
dishes as a token of remembrance.
The Sunday school teachers' staff
also presented Mrs. Bowman and
daughter Ida with gifts In apprecia
tion of their faithful service.
During the evening Frederick
Guetzlaff sang two selections, accom
panied at the piano by his mother.
Refreshments were served later in
the evening. Friends wished the
i Bowmans success and expressed re
gret at their leaving.
Sixtieth Anniversary
Observed Recently
Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Blrdsal) cele
brated their 60th wedding anniver

present. Many friends were also
present for the occasion.

has Just moved here from Nevada;
Mrs. Maud Plerson. of Winchester;
Wayne S. Birdsall. of Medford and
H. E. Birdsall, who resides with his
parents. The latter Is the youngest
ol the eleven children born to the
couple, seven of whom are living.
There are 32 grandchildren and five
great grandchildren.
A dinner was served in the evening
in honor of the anniversary and vari
ous games and old folk dances were
enjoyed later. The rooms were at
tractive with flowers brought by the
guests and a special centerpiece pre
sented by friends decorated the din
ing table.
Mr. Birdsall Is 81 years of age and
Mrs. Birdsall la 76.
Nile Luncheon Is
Event of Saturday
Daughters of the Nile will hold a
luncheon meeting tomorrow at 13:30
o'clock at the Masonic temple. The
patrol Is to serve the luncheon and

The Daughters of Onion Veterans
of the Civil War will meet at the
armory tonight at 7:30 for their reg
ular session. Plans will be completeJ

national patriotic instructor and
state officers' who will visit here

FORMER TALENT
Harry Perry Twogood, former resi
dent of Talent, died Srptember 34 a'
Clarkson, Wash., where he was visit
ing the Rev. and Mrs. J. O. Carrlck.
He was 64 years old.
Funeral services were held Septem
ber 37 in Orangevllle, Idaho, with
the Rev. Hubert B. Sias officiating.
Interment was In Prairie View ceme
tery. Among the larRe number of
mourners at the funeral service were
his mother. Mrs. Frances Twosood.
and his sister, Mrs. E. E. Foss, bMh
of whom reside In Talent.
Mr. Twogood was born in Ground
Mound. Iowa. May 35. 1873. He was
a prominent resident of Canfield.
Idaho, for 40 years. During that
time he became widely known for
his sterling qualities and was held
In high esteem by all.
Other survivors are his wife, Ger
trude Twogood of Canfield; trim
cons: Guy Twogood of Culdeaac.
Idaho, and Darrel and Harry. Jr..
of Canfield: two daughters, Mrs. Veu
Rape of Canfield. and Miss Elm:;
Twogood of Twin Falls, Idaho; and
nine grandchildren.
