opens a three-day run today at the
New Craterian theater. It is "Top
peV the plcturlzatlon of Thome
Smith's hilarious escapade, one of the
most novel comedy attractions to ever
be filmed and a fitting unit of the
new season's many outstanding at
tractions. The astounding adventures of Mr.
Oosmo Topper, sedate Wall Street
banker, who was destined to take part
In several ribald adventures with
sundry madcap gentry of another
world, has become one of the author's
most popular novels. Transferred to
the screen, with Constance Bennett
and Cary Grant as the young couple
who meet a violent death and find
themselves imprisoned In space with
their only hope of advancing to a
higher plane (presumably heaven) by
achieving some good deed, the film
has proved to be one of the funniest
farces of all time.

the ethereal couple a source of con
stant embarrassment in their mate
rial and Invisible efforts In his be
half. They upset his henpecked life
with his domineering wife, played by
BUtle Burke. How they flit In and
about astounded natives, how they
pursue an Incredible series of adven
tures across a bewildered country
side, lifts "Topper" from his smug
existence and makes of him a disreputable-
but happy human being.
Photographic effects, spectacular to
say the least, are Introduced in "Top
per" to portray the startling and
hilarious episodes of beautiful ghosts
taking shower baths, changing auto
mobile tires, driving a car at 90 miles
an hour and various other gay es
capades. Among others featured In the cast
are Alan Mowbray, Eugene Pallette,
Arthur Lake. Hedda Hopper. Virginia
Sale and J. Farrell MacDonald.
On the same program with "Top
per,'' the Craterian will show for the
first time, the motion picture filmed
last month in Medford. Servloe clubs,
Including Rotary, Lions. Active, 30-80,
Kiwanls, will see themselves repro
duced on the screen, as will school
students, elty and county employes,
and many other Medford folk.
The long-awaited successor
Sonja Henie's "One In a Million"
comes to the Craterian theatre Wed
nesday when "Thin Ice" opens its
all the lovers concerned finally find
themselves in the right pair of arms.
"Flight from Glory," a strange ro
mance that flourishes under stranger
circumstances at an unusual locale,
plays as the added feature with the
Harlow opus. Sharply etched against
the atmosphere of a distant settle
ment beneath the towering peaks of
the Andes, the story reveals its strange
romance of a young girl loved by three
fliers, but who, because of duty to
one, valiantly strives to stifle the dic
tates of her heart. Chester Morris
heads the cast of the South Ameri
can aviation drama.
The two films will remain at the
Rlalto through Tuesday.

consecutive year of short yields from
red clover, alfalfa and alsike seed
crops.
These are three of the crops classed
as "soil -conserving" or "soll-bulld-lng"
under farm benefit programs.
H. R. Tolley, chief of the agricul
tural adjustment administration, said
detailed 1938 regulations probably
would make allowance for the un
usual supply and price conditions In
these seeds.
The extreme drought In 1036, al
ternating winter thaws and freezes,
and grasshopper damage in some
areas reduced the red clover seed
crop.
