Dog Poisoned Mrs. W. E. McClaln

to city police that her dog had died
yesterday from some form of poisoning.
Granddaughter Dies Mr. and Mrs.
T. S. Cady of Jacksonville received
the sad news that their little grand
daughter, Ellen Louise Cady. 18
months old, had died at Moscow.
Idaho, yesterday morning. She was
the daughter of Dr. Louis C. Cady of '
that city.

To Attend Air Meeting Four Med
ford men will leave tomorrow for
Sacramento where they will attend
the Western Aviation Planning Coun
cil to be held Thursday, Friday and
Saturday and which has been called
by Governor Merrlam of California.
They are A. H. Banwell, secretary of
the Jackson County Chamber of
Commerce, Max Pelrce. president of
the local chapter of the aeronautic
association. H. S. Deuel, chairman of
the airport committee, and Thomas
Culbertson Jr., superintendent of the
Medford municipal airport. Banwell
plans to leave by United Airline while
the others will probably fly down
with Culbertson.

Capt. Dressier Home Captain Jea-
ale F. Dressier is visiting his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Dressier, 1107
East Main street. The captain who
is stationed at Schofield Barracks, in
the Hawaiian islands, la here on a
month's furlough, owing to the ser
ious Illness of his father. Mr. and
Mrs. David Lily of Long Beach, Cal.,
and Dr. B. H. White, of Salem, the
latter a childhood friend of F. H.
Dressier, were also recent visitors.
Slightly Injured R. W. Atkins, 38.
of Central Point, received a slight
arm Injury last Sunday night when
he was struck by a Pacific Greyhound
stage about three miles south of
Medford. Atkins, according to the re
port In city police station, was walk
ing along the highway .when the
stage, in passing another machine,
struck his arm. The driver of the
bus reported that an approaching,
car caused his failure to see Atkins.
Airport Arrivals Leaving Pearson
field in Vancouver, Wn., this morn
ing, seven U. S. army planes landed
at Medford municipal airport en
route to Oakland. They were: a North
American basic trainer piloted by
Lieut. Baum tester, a Douglas obser
vation piloted by Lieut. Thompson,
a Consolidated trainer piloted by
Capt. Palmer, a Consolidated trainer
piloted by Lieut. Merrill; a North
American basic trainer piloted by
MaJ. Howard French who had as his
passenger, MaJ. Paul Burroughs, com
manding officer of Pearson field and
who flew the plane out of .Medford,
and a Consolidate trainer piloted by
Capt. Murphy. Two U. 6. navy planes
also set down at the airport. They
were a Grumman amphibian piloted
by Lieut. Commander J. C. Cotton
from Sand Point, Seattle, to Sand
Point and a like plane piloted by
Lieut. H. Sartorls from Oakland to
Oakland.

In 1842, the sailing ship "William
Brown," Liverpool for Boston,
sinking In mid-Atlantic. The offl-1
cers were dead. There was barely
enough room in the life boats for
the women and children and a lew
of the men. One of the passengers
with master's papers took command,
impressed a Jury and held trial over
the other men to determine on
their merits who had the right to
live. He was later tried in America
for this trial.
From this astounding piece ot
American maritime history has come
one of the most exciting screen ad
ventures ever filmed, "Souls at Sea,'
opening a four-day run today at
the Craterian theater. Gary Cooper
and George Raft are co-starred,
with Frances Dee, Henry Wllcoxon.
Olympe Bradna and Harry Carey also
featured in the large cast.

play are a roaring fire ashore In
Liverpool, a bang-up fight on the
deck of the sinking snip, a duel
