ARE YOU ONLY A
THREE-QUARTER WIFE?
THERE are certain things a
woman liaa to put up with and
be a good sport.
Men, because they are men, can
never understand a three-quarter
wife a wife who Is all love and
kindness three weeks In a month
and a hell cat the rest of the time.
2s'o matter how your back aches
no matter how loudly your
nerves scream don't take It out
on your husband.
For three generations one woman
has told another how to go "smll
Ing through" with Lydia E. Pink
ham Vegetable Compound. It
helps Nature tone up the system,
thus lesseuing the discomforts from
the functional disorders which
women must endure in the three
ordeals of life: 1. Turning from '..
girlhood to womanhood. 3. Pre
paring for motherhood. 3: Ap
proaching "middle age."
Don't be a three-quarter wife,
take LYDIA E. PINKHAM'S '
VEGETABLE COMPOUND and
Oo "Smiling Throutth."

Medford' sheepherdlng United
States deputy marshal, Paul Hani In,
was back In town today after success
fully getting 5,388 head of the woolly
creatures to market.
Before going to the Klamath In
dian reservation to take possession
of the animals in the name of Uncle
Sam, Hanlln scarcely could tell a
sheep from a goat. Today he talks
like a sheep expert.
The sheep were awarded to the Fed
eral Intermediate Credit Bank of
Spokane under a mortgage foreclos
ure. The bank had lent $.77,000 on
10.000 head of sheep to M. M. and
Cora M. Crystal, ranchers on the In
dlan reservation at Chlloquln. The
herd was reduced through losses due
to cold during the winter. Hanlln
said.
The bank sold the sheep to the Salt
Lake Stock company at 0 cents a
pound for the lambs and 16 a head
for the ewes. It was Hanlln's Job to
ship the sheep to Salt Lake City.
But first he had to round them up.
The herd was divided Into three
bands over a radius of 38 miles and
so the roundup was no small task.
Despite his lack of sheepherdlng ex
perience. Hanlln got the three bands
to the railroad loading stations at
Leu, Kirk and Chlloqutn. Although
the move Involved considerable hik
ing for the sheep, only two lambs
were lost, Hanlln reported.. They died
by the wayside. " ?

tember 1. 1937, a total of IS 89 Inches
of rainfall was recorded, as compared
with the normal of 18.08. leaving a

The fall months last year were ex
tremely dry. resulting In a deficiency
of over A Inches at one time. Every
month since January, 1937, however,
showed a precipitation excess except
July and August.
A summary of records for the
month of August showed the highest
tempereture occurred Aug. 11 st 100
degrees. Lowest for the month was 41
on August 29. Records for the month
luring the 37 years of weather ob
servations here are: Maximum. 108
and minimum. 40.
Although the mean temperature of
69.6 degrees for the month Just past
la lower than average, it Is not at all
unusual, weather officials report.
Measurable precipitation fel) on Aug
