Sheep Custodian Paul Hanlln.
United States deputy marshal, left
late yesterday afternoon for Klamath
Falls. He received orders to proceed
forthwith to the Klamath country to
take charge of fl.000 head of sheep for
the government. Purpose of the cus
todianship was not disclosed.
To Convention Mr. and Mrs. Rob
art A. Newland will leave by motor
car tomorrow afternoon for Kansas
City, Mo., to attend the biennial con
vention of the National Association
of Letter Carriers and its auxiliary.
Mr. Newland Is delegate -at-large from
Oregon and national state vice-president.
Mrs. Newland a delegate from
. the Medford auxiliary. They will first
go to Bend where they will be Joined
by two delegates from Eugene. The
four will travel together, stopping en
route at Salt Lake City, Grand Can
yon and the Pan-American exposition
in Dallas. Texas. On the return trip
they will swing Into Canada for a
brief tour and visit In Yellowstone
national park. The convention will
be held September 6 to 11.

Fishing Good Salmon fishing
turned exceptionally good at the
mouth of Smith river In northern
California yeaterday, it was reported
by Postmaster Frank DeSouza, who
spent several days at Castle Rock
camp. Several excellent catches were
made and fishermen expected the sal
mon run to continue for some time,
Mr. DeSouza stated.
Camp Publication The first and
also the last publication to be pro
duced by the Casey CCC spike camp
was distributed today, it la a ten
page mimeographed magazine that
leans heavily toward humor. Editor
was Fred Thorn, who averred he would
never do It again. His staff was com
posed of Arno J. Feltner, associate
editor, the Rev. J. Devine Hopkins,
first assistant editor, and Frank Staf
ford, second assistant to the first as
sistant editor.
Visitors Leave Mr. and Mrs. H. H.
Bergman and son, Junior, of Tony
pah, Nev., left last Friday for San
Francisco after visiting Mr. and Mrs.
E. C. Flene and Mr. and Mrs. Frank i
Taylor of Sardine creek. After visit

trips with Mrs. Flene and Mr. and

Roosevelt To Sail
Long Island Sound
WASHINGTON. Aug. 26. (API
President Roosevelt will leave tonight
for a visit to Hyde Park. N. Y., and
a cruise of several days on Long
Island sound.
He will take with him more than
100 bills passed in the closing days
of congress and still awaiting appro
val or rejection.
After about a week the president
will board the yacht "Potomac" at
Poughkeepsle for the cruise on Long
Island sound. He probably will In
dulge In his favorite sport of fishing.
He Is to return to Washington
September 17.

passed away at a local hospital early
Friday morning from infirmities due
to advanced age. Mr. Buckbee was

Buckbee of Columbia, Mo., Clarence
Buckbee of Ellwood, Kansas and Mrs.
