SOFTBALL RIVALS
VIE TOMORROW IN
Timber Products and Plche Hard
ware, red-hot Softball rivals, will
meet again tomorrow afternoon at
:1S at the high school ball park,
but Instead of playing the game In
the orthodox manner, the two teams
will be mounted on stubborn and
unwilling donkeys.
It will be the annual appearance
of donkey baseball In Medford under
the sponsorship of the local 20-30
elub. This years' string of brutes
will be furnished by the Peninsula
Amusement company of California,
and Includes 19 of the most Irritat
ing "critters" ever assembled to send
fens Into hysterics and players Into
he dust. .
To those who have witnessed don
key baseball in the past, no explan
ation of the hilarious pastime Is
necessary. For those who have yet
to attend their first exhibition ef
the game, the following Is printed;
: All Inflelders and outfielders are
aboard donkeys, which they may
lesve only to field a batted ball.
Upon procuring the ball, they must
return to their steeds to throw It.
The pitcher and catcher are the lone
fielders not seated aboard the don
keys. The batter, after hitting the
ban. must mount his transportation,
which Is usually not overly willing
to be mounted, and proceed to first
base. It Is considered excellent time
when a batter reaches the Initial
sack In five minutes. Many batters
never get there because of the strange
occurrences that occur on the way.
A large crowd Is expected. All seats
will be In the twin grandstands. .
