AS PIE FOR WRITING
WASHINGTON, Aug. 30. (Pi A
grsy-halred man from tiny town
on the wide Wyoming plains hunched
Into a hotel chair today and unbur
dened himself of these unrelated
observations:
"Lobster, especially it It's your first

the innards of a country newspaper
man. "Mrs. Jack Dompsey Is the nicest
attraction I saw In New York.
"That fellow LaOuardla Is a steam
engine.
"Washington politicians are pretty
smart. I'll keep my mouth shut
about politics.
"This sir-condltlonlng business may
be all rii?ht, but I'd rather have that
Wyoming wind, that never stops
blowing, cool me off.
It was Flnlay Petrle, of Opal, Wyo
talking. He won 1200 and a trip
east for writing the "best country
correspondence" In a contest con
ducted by a magazine. About 8.500
rural columnists competed.
The petrles planned to leave for
Wyoming probably tomorrow.
"I got to get back to writing that
column of mine," Petrle explained.

If there were a better rubber-tread stock
than la used in Supreme Quality tires, we
would use it. There isn't. If there were
finer cotton grown, we would use that! If
engineering genius could produce a safer,
more efficient non-skid tread, or designers
produce a handsomer sidewall , . . these
would find their way into Wards Supreme
Quality. Yet this great tire costs you much
less than other super-service tires!
