Grass Fire The fire department's
chemical crew waa called out yester
day afternoon to extinguish a grass
blaze near the Coffee Pot on the
North Pacific highway. The fire was
attributed to a lighted cigarette stub

intendent of the Colorado park which

return to Crater lake to wind up
his administration before leaving
southern Oregon permanently for his
new position, considered one of the
most Important In the national park
service.
To End Visit Mr. and Mrs. Oeorge
Bower of Santa Barbara, Cal.. wlU
terminate their annual encampment
on the Rogue river Sunday when they
plan to leave for the Umpqua where
they will continue their fishing. Later
they will go to Pendleton for the
annual round-up The Bowers have
been camped on leased property near
McLeod. They arrived April 1 and
Mr. Bower, In Medford today, said
they have had a season of excellent
angling. The Bowers have been com
leg to southern Oregon on fishing
excursions every summer for the past-
seven or eight years.

Oregon State college, school of for
estry, reported for duty today as a
summer atudent employe on the
Rogue River national forest. He wss
assigned to the South Pork CCC camp
where he will be engaged in making
recreational surveys.

At Cinnabar springs Mr. and Mr.
L. Dike of Medford and Mrs. E. O.
Flene of Gold Hill spent Sunday with
Mrs. Flene's daughter and son-in-law.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Taylor, at cinna
bar Springs, Cal. Mr. Taylor la tak
ing treatment at the springs for his
health. Mrs. Tsylor is In charge of
the springs for the summer. The
visitors reported that weather at tne
health resort waa ideal. Roads to
the spa are In good condition and
many are using the route through
the Applegate, they said.

Visiting Friend Mrs. Charles Link
and son Richard of Elkhart, Ind., are
guests of B. H. Brysnt of Route 4.
The guests have been visiting In Cali
fornia and are now en route to Ta-
coma, wash., where they are to call
on other friends before returning
home. Mr. Link and Mr. Bryant were
friends In the United states army
during the World war, having met
for the first time when they were
assigned to the same regiment. They
have kept up their friendship by
correspondence, since the war. Mra.
Link said ahe had heard her hus
band apeak so frequently of Mr.
Bryant that ahe decided to stop of
here for a visit while traveling from
California to Washington.
