CCC Outlog Sixty-two CCC men

ed a recreation trip to Crater lake'
and Diamond lake Sunday. Six army
vehicles carried them on the excur
sion. They visited Mill creek falls
and the natural bridge en route to
Crater lake. Many of them saw Cra
ter lake for the first time. At Die.

and a number of the men went swim
ming. Supper was served at Union
Creek. Many of the swimmers who
were here for last week's flrst-ald and
water life-saving school made the
trip along with the detachment mem

TO FINAL REST
' Eliza Good a Id, resident of Central
Point since last October, and for
mer resident of Rogue River, Ore.,
for many years, passed away at the
home of her grand-daughter, Mrs
R. E. Rlchman early Monday morning
after a week's Illness.
Mrs. Ooodald was born at Delavln,
Wis.. December 27, 1856. Her hus
band. Henry Ooodald, passed away
about a year ago.
She was a woman of refinement
and will be missed by a host of
friends.
She leaves to mourn her departure,
one daughter, Mrs. Orace Kathan of
Rogue River, and eight grandchildren,
and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at
the Presbyterian church at Rogue
River Thursday at 2 p.m.. Rev. Dan
Magerle officiating. .Interment will
take place In the I.O.O.F. cemetery
at Grants Pass, Oregon. Perl Funeral

HERMAN M. KURTZ,
VETERAN, PASSES
Herman Manuel Kurtz, 39, a resi
dent of Montague, Cal., passed away
In a local hospital early Monday
evening after a short Illness. He
had come to Medford for medical
care. Mr. Kurtz was born May 9,
1897, at Louisville, Ky. He Is survived
by his wife, Hilma Kurtz, of Mon
tague, six sisters, Mrs. Vlrma Butch
er, of Corcoran, Cat.; Mrs. B. J.
Squire, Selma. Cal.; Mrs. Pearl Ray,
Tulare, Cal.; Mrs. Emma Bryant, Tu
lare, Cal.; Mrs. Florence Bollen-
bacher, of Vlsalla, Cal.; Mrs. Hazel
Quarnstrom, of Corcoran, Cal.; one
brother, W. B. Kurtz, of San Jose,
Cal., and his father, W. D. Kurtz,
of Dlnuba, Cal., also four step chil
dren at Montague, Cal.
He was a private In company F,
4th eng. corps, serving In France
and Germany the last few months
of the World war.
The body will be forwarded tonight
to Sacramento, Cal., for funeral ser
vices and burial by the Conger fu
neral parlors.

EX-RESIDENT, PASSES
Clinton O. Dunaway, former Med
ford resident, died last week at h's
home In Los Angeles after a year's
Illness. He was 55 years old.
In 1936, Mr. Dunaway was united
In marriage to Mrs. Fanny Com best
of Jacksonville, who survives. Other
survivors are his daughter, Gloria
Maxine: step-daughter, Peggy; father.
L. J. Dunaway of Reedsport, and the
following brothers and sisters: James
H. of Reedsport, Charles of San Fran
cisco, Mrs. George Tomas of Reeds
port and Mrs. Weldon Zundel of Med

Frank Hull. Jr, Just returned from
the "Beaver Boys State" at Multno
mah Falls, will give a resume of his
experiences at the unique summer
camp sponsored by the American
Legion. It was reported that the
Medford post's representative piayea

for governor and lost by only 10
votes.
The new post officers to be in
stalled tonight are C. L. MacDonald,
commander; George Simpson, first
vice-commander; Earl York, second
vice -commander; Horace L. Bromley.

Registrations lor the Boy 8cout
summer camp at Lake o the wooos,
which opens Sunday, are being com
pleted at headquarters. Scouts wlsh
lns to attend are urged to register at
onoe. Scouts who wisn to attend me
first session must register at head
quarters by Thursday in order to
have physical examinations.
Registrations are limited to 80 each
session and If the camp Is full it
will be necessary to transfer those
registering late to another session.
Irving P. Beesley,, Scout executive
of the Crater Lake area council, will
act as camp director the four- ses
sions. T. H. Em mens will again be
camp doctor and first aid director.
Ralph Smith, camp cook, has planned
well balanced, nutritious and appe
tizing meals. He Is well remembered
by those enjoying the camp last sum
mer. Transportation to and from the
oamp must be furnished by the
Scouts' parents. The boys will be
assigned to their patrols end oablns
