In an article concerning the Hu
mane Society appearing June 39 it
waa srated that the animal hos
pital on North Riverside was an as
set of, and maintained by the Hu
mane society. This la Incorrect. The
hospital Is "under entirely separate
ownership and all equipment has
been placed there by Dr. Philips.
Patients and boarders at the hos
pital are solely under Dr. Philips'
direction.
The Humane society was influen
tial In bringing Dr. Philips to Med
ford and veterinary work for the
society is done at the hospital.
Otherwise, the only relation between
the two organizations Is a common
Interest In pets.
Blanket 300 Years Old
CLEVELAND (UP) Mrs. John
Parks owns a 300-year old blanket,
mode In Ireland and passed through
eight generations. It Is larger than
most blankets, Is made of pure wool
and Is of aiany colors.

Long Weekend to

The long Fourth of July holiday
week-end will find many Medford i
residents away from town, the extra j
day providing an opportunity of long-'
er than usual ' duration for rest or
entertainment.
Many of those hiving summer
homes at resorts of the region are
Inviting friends to Join them for the
week-end, fishing, boating, swimming
and varied other recreations present
ing attractive activities away from
heat of the valley.
Others are planning week-end visits
to friends and relatives In other cities
or shorter excursions to mountains
or coasts. Those who prefer to share
celebrations with larger numbers will
motor to various towns planning a
civic festivity. Many will seek Ore
gon's cool coast.
Remaining at home for a quiet hol
iday presents the most attractions for
some. Numerous visitors will be en
tertained in the city over the holiday.

Many Guests at
Tucker River Lodge
Among the many entertaining
friends at summer homes along Rogue
river are Mr. and Mrs. Nlon Tucker
of San Francisco, who, with their
daughter and son. are hosts to a large
number of friends during the sum
mer 'at Rogue's Roost, the Tucker
lodge.
Several arrived this morning from
the bay district to spend the Fourth
of July holidays with Mr. and Mrs.
Tucker and more are expected later
this week. Others will be sojourning
at Rogue's Roost at various times
throughout the summer, the Tuckers
having guests weekly.
Expected Here
Among holiday visitors expected In
the city over the week-end are Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Valentin of Eugene, who
will arrive Saturday. They are to be
the guests of Mrs. Valentin's mother,
Mrs. M. M. Snider.
The group plan to spend the hol
iday at the Snider summer cabin at
Shady cove.
Mrs. Valentin was Miss Mary
Snider before her marriage early this
spring. She will be greeted by a num
ber of Medford friends during her
stay.
Air Show Will
Provide Activity
Medford residents are making plans
to welcome the many visitors here to
participate In or view the spectac
ular air show here tomorrow.
A large number of out of town res
idents are expected to be in the city
for the event and activity will center
on their entertainment. Medford hos
tesses are planning numerous Infor
mal affairs and a gala atmosphere is
beginning to produce a noticeable ef
fect o ntownspeople.
Many of the visiting pilots will ba
entertained in Medford homes during
their brief stay here and local avta-1
tlon enthusiasts are arranging var-1
loua means of expressing Medford
hospitality.
Miss Canine Wed
In Grants Pass
Mlsa Rosemary Canine, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Canine of this city,
became the bride of John Sheldon
Wood in a quiet ceremony in Grants
Pass yesterday afternoon.
The service was solemnized at the
residence of the officiating minister,
the Rev. John B. Coan, before a small
group of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Otto
R. Thresham, Jr., attended the young
couple.
The bride wore a blue travel en
semble and a corsage of sweetpeas
and carnations.
The young couple will make their
home here, where both have many
friends.

arrived several days ago.
Miss Webster is the guest of Mr.
