Everyday Cooking Miracles

be the perfect icing. . It is neither

grand icing goes on the cake or cup

can be arranged in gorgeous swirls
if you wish. Then prestol it hard

Ute Paper Cup,
If you could have seen and heard
the admiring circle that gathered
around this newcomer to an illus

you'd have thought that somebody
was showing off her 14-carat en
gagement ring for the first time,
considering the chorus of "ohs" and
"ahs." However, this recipe is a
14-caratone and I'm going to share
it with you; but first, here is a
recipe for some delectable cup cakes
worthy of a "miracle" icing.. These
cakes are feathery light and tender,
and rise to superb heights because
they are baked by cold oven magic.
These "dclovely" cakes are further
distinguished because they are
baked in crinkle cups which make
charming little fluted edges around
the cakes (and save dishwashing,
too). You need have no qualms
about using these paper cups in the

PARENTS MUST HAVE
KNOWLEDGE OE
SAYS P.-T.
CORVALLIS, June 35, (API
Knowledge of children Is a necessary
shock absorber for parents of today.
Dr. Ada Hart Arlitt. chairman of the
parent education division of the Na
tional Parents and Teachers associa
tion, said, addressing the opening
session of the Parent Education
Leader conference at Oregon State
college,
"Parents used to have the respect
of children because the parents knew
more and could prove It. While the
parents still know more than the
children. It Is not so easy to prove
It today," she said.
Describing "adolescence" as the
product of the last 20 years, the ex
plained that previously children were
considered grown-up at 14 years of
age. She stressed the Importance of
encouraging modern children to
make their own decisions and en
courage self reliance,
"If we want democracy we must
educate for it. Democracy does not
come over night. It comes from the
way we educate our children, the
kind of philosophy we give them. If
we demand unquestioned obedience
to our will, we teach the philosophy
of dictatorship."
The conference, attended by 100
delegates, will end tonight.

Another complex sequel to the Lind

possible. Next Wednesday was set
tentatively for sentencing.
