TO PAROLE TASK
SALEM, June 19. (AP) Drafting
of all bill relating to Oregon' parole,
probation and aentenetng eystem was
the tas assigned by Governor Mar
tin today to Justice J. O. Bailey of
the stste mpreme court.
The recommendations of the com
mittee of 10 men. appointed this week
ti study the system, will be submitted
to the 1939 legislature.
The governor appointed Justice
Bsiley chairman of the commission.
In a letter to Bailey, the governor
said "the problem of crime l
the
greatest unsolved problem of the cen
turies. Laws for the punishment of crime
should be founded on the principles
of reformation and not of vindicative
Justice."
The governor said all of Lis office
records would be available for the
commission's atudy.
