at the cornerstone laying for the new
capltol today when the Floyd B. Mc
Mullen memorial first aid car Is pre
sented to the city by the Salem
Trades and Labor council.
McMullen. a Willamette university
student, waa assisting himself through
college by working aa a call fireman.

street and Jack Ray of Eagle Point
were under arrest today on a charge
of grand larceny.
An Information filed In Justice of
the peace court charged them with
the theft of two reduction gears and
a one horsepower electric motor from
the pscklng plant of southern Oregon
fiales. Inc., on or about May 0. Value
waa listed as $330. The Information
was sworn to by S. M. Tuttle, man
ager of SOS.
Wymore recently started a sand and
gravel business on the Midway road.
A search warrant waa aworn out last
night and parts of his plant were
fo''nd to be artloles stolen from the
SOS plsnt, authorities stated. Arti
cles such sa electric motors, gears snd
bushings hsd been disappearing from
tna packing plant for some time.

Wymore, a prominent cltlren here
for the past ten years, was taken Into
custody last night. Mr. Ray wu ar
rested this morjilng at the gravel
plant where he Is said to have been
working. Ray operates a store and
service station In Eagle Point.

ployed aa Wymore's attorney. He
quoted Mr. Wymore as saying ha had
bought all the equipment at hta
plant.
Mr. Wymore waa arraigned tn Jus
tice of the peace court thla after
noon and preliminary hearing was
set by Judge William R. Coleman
at a o'clock Monday afternoon. On
motion of District Attorney Prank
J. Nevmen, Wymore was released on
his own recognusance.
Later , In the afternoon, Mr. Ray
was arraigned ana given until 10
o'clock Saturday morning to waive or
demand a preliminary hearing. Ball
waa aet at 1,000.
Mr. Wymore waa arraigned In Jus
tice of the peace court thla afternoon
and preliminary hearing was set by
Judge William R. Coleman at 3 o'
clock Monday afternoon. On motion
of District Attorney Prank J. New
man, Wymore waa released on his
own recognisance.

mohair theft, were paroled from sen
tences of two years each In the stato

paroled to their parents and were
returned to their homes at Yoncalla.
Oliver Taylor, 18, of Powers, ar
rested April 24 for alleged auto theft,
was paroled from a sentence of alx
months in the county Jail and was
paroled to his father, H.- B. Taylor

proved today a revised farm tenancy
bill authorizing an appropriation of
10,000.000 for liberal loans to teb-
onrs and sharecroppers in 1038.
A previously approved measure.

committee, would have authorised

The new bill retained a provision
authorizing an appropriation of
10,000,000 in 1038 for purchase and
retirement of eubmarginal land from
cultivation. Authorizations for farm
home purchase loans were stepped up

A provision authorising 970,000,000
for rehabilitation loans for farm oper
atlng purposes was eliminated, com
mittee members said funds for this
purpose were expected to be made
available by President Roosevelt from
relief funds.
Except for aubmarglnal land, the
amounts provided in the bouse bill
were the same as In the Bankhead
bill recently approved by the senate
apiculture committee. However, the
latter measure would give the sec re
tary of agriculture authority to pur
chase and Improve farms for resale
to tenanta.
