Mrs. Mack Home Mabel Mack,
home demonstration agent, returned
home by train this morning from
Portland where she underwent an
emergency appendectomy three weeks
ago. She expects to be back In her
office In the county courthouse this

gene where they will visit other rela
tives during a two weeks' vacation.

Earl B. Day resumed his duties here
today after an absence of the past
few weeks In Washington, D. o
where he represented the county at
congressional hearings pertaining to
the administration of Oregon grant

mlttee and later presided at a routine
session of the county court.

Mrs. Viola Jenkins of 80 Cottage
street was slightly injured last night
when the ear driven by her husband.
Frank E. Jenkins, was struck by a
machine operated by Bill Goodman
of 739 Went Main atreet at the Inter
section of Riverside and Twelfth
street, a city police report aald to
day. Goodman, according to the report,
turned from Riverside avenue Into
Twelfth street and hit the fendera
and hub cap of the Jenkins auto.
Mrs. Jenkins received minor bruises.
Cars driven by Thomas w. Swoops
of 001 North Central avenue and Da
vid B. Wmnlngham of Jacksonville
were . Involved In a minor crash at
Central avenue and Fourth street
Sunday morning, according to a city
police report.
William Foss of Roseburg, driving
a truck, struck a horse a short dis
tance south of the Siskiyou summit
Friday night, breaking Its leg, a po
lice report stated. The horse wsa de
stroyed. Foss, In his report, stated he
swerved wide to avoid eight horses
on the highway, but one walked in
front of hla truck.
