stantial support was withdrawn from
the stock market today as fresh labor
disputes dampened the courage of
trading circles.
With growing strikes putting brakes
on production m Independent steel
centers, and walkout threatened
elsewhere, holders relinquished lead
ing issues for losses of tractions to
three or more points.
There were mild buying intervale
tn which small recoverlea from the
lows of the day were recorded, but
these were few and for the most part
short-lived. The close, though, found
extreme set-backa reduced In some
instances.
Weakness of Genersl Motors was a
depressing factor. This usually prom
inent performer slid Into new bottom
territory for the year. Chrysler also,
was In supply, along with U. 8 Steel,
Bethlehem, Republic, Wheeling Steel,
Vanadium, American Steel Foundries.

a busy center from which busses run
to all parts of Long Island. There,
the note said, "my man" would meet
him and call to him.
"Do not bring cops," the note
r.hlch was unsigned said. "Jf you do,

Police watched the terminal last
night, but nothing developed.

Federal men made a thorough sur
vey of the countryside today, check
ing small yacht cluba and private
docks, questioning employes, owners
and others to determine If any
strange watercraft had been seen be
fore Mrs. Parsons' disappearance.
The ransom note, found tucked in
the Parsons car on the Long Island
estate, and the theory of Mrs. Anna
Kupryanova, Russian - born woman
who lived with the Parsons family
and helped with the work, apparently
were the principal leads in the wide
search.
The couple sought were the middle
cged, man and woman said by Mrs.
Kupryanova to have called at the
farm about 11 a. m., Wednesday,
spoken to Mrs. Parsons and driven
away with her, ostensibly for a short
run to Huntington, about 15 miles
away.
This was the last seen of the 38
j ear-old Mrs. Parsons, who Is ot a
well-to-do family and Is listed In the
New York social register.

tablishing equality in tax levies and
including state and federal workers

dicted an Increase in taxation when
the national debt la liquidated.

land Journal, said farmers would rise
when pressed too far and applauded
Orange efforts to improve their lot.
He pointed to fche necessity of call
ing out the national guard four years
ago to quell agrarian disorders in

Final plans for a "hamfest" will
