TAYLOR RETURNS
Use Mai) Tribune want ads.
The bitterest grappling feud in
southern Oregon will be resumed next
Monday night In the Medford armory
when Pete, Belcaatro and Joe Brno-
Ilnakl face each other In a no-referee,
no-tlme-llmlt squabble billed for the
middle event.
Frankle Taylor, an old favorite, will
return after over a year's absence,
to tangle with Cowboy Dude Chick
In the main event. Promoter LUlara
states that Taylor la a vastly Improved
grappler, and weighs about 306
pounds now. He Is an ex-Ohio State
football star.
In the opening bout, Sailor Dick
Trout will get another crack at Monto
LaDue, the dirty Frenchman who al
most broke his leg two weeks ago
to win In straight falls.
Last Monday, Belcaatro and Smo-
Unskl put on the greatest exhibition
of plain and fancy brawling ever
seen In the local ring, with the Mad
Italian winding things up by clout
ing the Polish Palooka over the head
with a chair, broaklng the furniture
In a hundred pieces and apparently
making little serious impression on
the Palooka'a cranium other than
momentarily atunnlng him.
Following the fracas, which had a
huge crowd In hyaterlcs, Smollnskl
said, "There's only one thing I want,
And that Is to get that wop In the
ring again. I'll beat him to a pulp.
Promoter LUlard aald that there
would be no referee In the ring to
Interfere with the expected mayhem.
The official will be outside the arena.
and make himself known only when
the two meanlea become entangled
in the ropes, or fight themselves Into
the spectators. The only way a fall
will be called will be for one grappler
to shout uncle.
There will be no time limit to the
match, the "dirt" boys going until
It la proved once and for all Just

FANS JEER DIZZY,
REMAIN TO CHEEI
'GREAT CARL' SLIPS
(By Associated Press.)
They laugh one day snd cheer the
next depending on whether Olzsy
Desa is popping off or pitching.
When he's doing the former, the
folks seem to forget about his el
Viwlng ability, and look on him as
sort of a sideshow.
But when he gets out there on thst
hill, and really puts his mind to
fo?gin 'em In. as he did yesterday
In pinning back the ears of Carl
Hubbell and the New Tork Olante.
8-1. the crowd tips Its hat.
From the greeting Die received be
fore yesterday's game. It begins to
appesr that the faithful, generally,
and the New York fans In particu
lar, are getting mighty tired of his
outbursts.
A packed polo grounds let out one
big "boo" and followed It up' with a
varied assortment of Jeers for most
of the game. But when It was all
over, and Dlz had polished off the
Giant with three hits and one un
earned run, the crowd roared approv
al of the pitching perfection he dis
played In the opener of the double
header. Outside of Dlsiy's top-flight fling
ing, the double bill, snd particular
y the advertised Hubbell-Dean duel,
produced two outstanding develop
ments, i
1. That the promise of a fight
will still pack them in anywhere;
3. That something serious Is hap
pening to Hubbell, who less than
two weeks ago was being halted as
invincible.
The Hub-Dlz rivslry was supposed
to repeat a performance of last
month's "battle of St. Louis." when
Dean's "duster" precipitated a gen
eral free to: all In his last meeting
with Hubbell and the Giants
A near record week crowd of 55.-
777 paid Its way tn to set yesterday's
Ooings. They didn't get any first
swinging, but they were t res tea to
s flock of baseball as the Olsnts fol
lowed up the opener defeat to take
the nightcsp 3-3 on Rsrry Denning 'a
ninth Inning pinch homer, to nang
onto the leagu lead.
The real winner, however, was
Horace fitoneham. and the Giant
front office had a lot of fun count
!ng the gate.
The opening game marked the
fourth straight time Hubbell has
been belted out. A week ago Mon
day the Dodgers ended his record
string of 24 straight. Yesterday the
Cards clouted him for 13 bits In
eight Innings. Things don't look al
together hopeful for Bill Terry and!
hi terriers.
