Flying South Ivor Witney, head of
the Witney Flying Service at Sacra
mento, Cal., stopped at the municipal
airport yesterday afternoon to have
his Monocoupe serviced. He arrived
from Portland and was on his way
home after a flight to Montana.

Medford resident now employed In
Yreka, Cal., was a business visitor
here yesterday and today. Lalng Is
head of the parts department of the
Erlckson & James garage In the Cali

Operators Confer Truck operators
have been conferring here this week
with Harold 8. Hughes, interstate
commerce commission motor trans
port supervisor. Informal hearings
have been conducted to establish op
erators' rights as Interstate carriers
for the purpose of acquiring certifi
cate of permit to operate.
Lights Ont Investigation by the
California Oregon Power company ser
vice crew failed to reveal the reason
for a break in the downtown light
circuit last night, it was stated to
day. Lights went out Intermittently
over a ten-minute period around 8:30.
The circuit switch was "set up" and
the trouble apparently worked ltsell
out, the company said.
Navy Club Meeting Rogue River
Valley Navy Mothers club will meet
In the home of Mrs. W. D. Roberts
at 1011 West 10th street, Monday
afternoon at 3 o'clock. All members
are asked to be present as plans are
to be made for a special meeting at
which the club will be presented its
charter by Mrs. Nellie Evans of Port
land, national commander.
Arriving Tonic lit Mr. and Mrs.
Edward O. Kelly, former Medford
residents, are expected to arrive by
motorcar tonight from their Port
land home for a brief visit at the
home of Mr. Kelly's parents, Col.
and Mrs. E. E. Kelly. They will be
accompanied by their two children.
Mr. and Mrs. Kelly will probably re-
main here until the middle of next
week when they will go to San Fran
cisco for a short sojourn, leaving the
children here until their return.

On Vacation Miss Gertrude Butler,
deputy county clerk, Is spending a
two weeks' vacation In and around

and Mrs. Chester Tunnell of Jack
sonville, the trip south being made
via Reno, Nov., and Berkeley. Cal.
Mrs. Tunnell Is also employed In the
county clerk's office and Mr. Tunnell
Is a teacher and athletic coach at
Jacksonville high school.

Thomas, home demonstration agent
at large, will leave tonight for Cor
vallls to give a summer course In
home furnishing at Oregon State col
lege. The summer schol will be con
ducted from June 7 to 18. During
the past fortnight Miss Thomas has
been substituting here for Mabel
Mack, Jackson county home demon
stration agent who Is recuperating In
Portland from an appendix operation.

agent, Is recuperating from an oper
ation at the home of her brother.
