Baldwin, "savior of tha monarchy,"
retired today as Great Britain' prime
minuter after hlstorlo service and
waa succeeded by Arthur Neville
Chamberlain, bis chancellor of the
exchequer.
King George VI conferred on Bald
win the highest distinction within
the gift of the crown a knighthood
of the garter tonight after the
smoothly-managed switch of govern
ments. The king received the new ns
ttonal government, still a coalition

change-over from "Honest Stan." the

famous daughters were three years
old today but save for a half-hour

was mostly another day of oatmeal
and spinach, bathing snd play.
The saucer-eyed little girls, far too
young to realize the passage of the
third milestone In their once tenu
ous Uvea, did not have cake. Ice
cream or candy; they had to stick to
their foutlne diet of milk and other
body-bulldlng foods.

Mr. and Mrs. Dionne were not ex
pected to attend the public ceremony
today in the quints' completely
equipped hospital home.
Friends said Papa and Mama
Dionne believed their attendance at
the public celebration might be con
sidered an Indication that they en
dorse the separation of the quints
from the rest of the large family.
FOR NOMINATING
Officers for the new year will be
nominated at the semi monthly
meeting of the American Legion In
the Medford armory at 8 o'clock
Tuesday. A representative attend
ance waa requested by J, F. Fllegel,
post commander.
A feature of Tuesday's meeting
will be a true story contest based on
experiences In the world war. A cash
prize will go to the winner. There
will be other entertainment and af
ter the aeasion a Dutch lunch will
be served, Mr. Fllegel aald.

recently, have Instigated a play day
for adults, which will be held at
Ruch Sunday. June 6. This will be
the second annual event of this type,
