Wallis Selects Her Honeymoon Gowns
BERLIN. Germany. May 38. (AP)
Propaganda, Minister Paul Joseph
Ooebbela called on the Catholic
hierarchy today to cease what he
called Its "slander" of nazl Justice
under threat of being cattd Into
court to testify under oath.
Ooebbels, In a speech of an hour
and a half which win billed as an
:answer" to the critical words of
George. Cardinal Mundeleln In Chi
cago mentioned the cardinal but
once.
Instead he devoted most of his
speech to a bitter attack on the
Catholic clergy In general.
Of Cardinal Mundeleln he declared:
"A Catholic cardinal In America
named Mundeleln made a speech In
which he Insulted our fuehrer (Adolf
Hitler) In the most unqualified man
ner and called me the crooked propa
ganda minister of Germany who has
three trials (trials of Catholic priests
and lay brothers on Immorality
charges) staged only to harm the
persecuted Catholic clergy.
"He casts complete doubt on the
correctness of these trials and has
the nerve to compare them with
atrocity charges conducted against
' Germany during the world war."
(The cardinal In his Chicago
tpesch called Adolf Hitler an "Aus
trian paper hanger'1 referred to Goeb
bela as "crooked" and said the con;
tlnued "immorality' trials of Catho
lics In Germany made wartime atroc
ity, stories look like bed-time tales).
