TO FLARE

Four Cleanies Tangle With
Two Meanies Winner to
: Meet Dude Chick.
It will bt cleanlea versus meant la
ding-dong battle royal at the Med
ford srmory tonight, with the man'
nerty wrestling gentlemen boiling
numerical odda of a to 1 over their
rlllalnoua, foul-punching brethren.
Among those tlx grapplera who will
tart proceedings In a rree-for-all that
It expected to eclipse anything yet
seen In the local arena will be the
Messrs. Alvln Brltt, Sam Feebacx,
Sailor Dick Trout and Jlmmle Good
rich of the clean-wrestling brigade,
Upholding the honor (II there Is such
a thing I of the underhanded tribe
will be Pete Belcastro, the Mad Ital
lan of Weed, Calif., and Joe 8mo-
llnskl, the Polish Falooka.
Directly following that opening
brawn will come Promoter Mack Lll
lsrd's weekly program ol pain and
punishment which will be arranged
In the following manner: first two
eliminated In the battle royal will
meet In the opening event, second
pair of grapplers to take the count
will tangle In the middle bout, ana
the remaining duo of gladiators will
face each other In the top main
event, consisting of the best two out
of three falls or a one-hour time
limit. First two matches will be un
der the Australian fall system of six
10-mlnute rounds or the best two
out of three falls.
- Three personal feuds are expected
to be renewed with vigor In the bat
tle royal. last week, Pet Belcaatro
detested Sailor Dick Trout with an
extremely loul punch to the groin
that everyone In the place witnessed
but Referee Ray PrUble. Tonight,
Trout will probably waste little time
in singling out the Mad Italian for
some bones t-to-goodness revenge
work.
Also next week, Joe Smollmkl went
berserk, more so than usual, to al
most whip big Alvln Brltt, and the
sx-Junlor heavyweight champion of
the world has avowed that If he ever
eta his hands on the Polish Pslooka
again he will not only break hie arm
over the ring ropea but do the same
to bis neck. Although technically bar
red from the Medford ring, Brltt used
the arm-breaker over the ropes to
finally defeat dirty Joe, and the act
met with howls of glee from the
patrons
Still another feeling of hatred that
may be aired tonight la that between
the two dirt boys, Smollnskl and Bel
caatro. To aay they bate each other
Is putting It rather mildly, and It
would surprise nobody If they went
at It hammer and tongs from the
opening bell, entirely disregarding
the other four grapplera.
Promoter Ullard, In arranging the
battle royal, aald that he believed it
waa the fairest wsy In matching the
grapplers for the card to follow, the
outstanding of which will get a crack
at Cowboy Dude Chick, Junior heavy
weight champion of the world, next
Monday night.
The largest crowd of the year la ex
pected to attend the matches, and
the promoter warned all to procure
Uckeu aa early as possible.

10 BEAT CRATERS
Medford's infield cracked wide pen
at Olendale yesterday afternoon, and
as result the Craters fell Into un
disputed possession of the Southern'
Oregon lesgue cellar while the Log
gera climbed Into a tie with Ashland
for fourth place. The score waa 10-8.
Although outbltting the lumber
town club 10 to 8. the Craters lost
when Infield errors In critical mo
ments ensbled the Loggers to come
from behind twice. Players of both
teams swatted out seven two-base
hits, with the winners grabbing four
of them.
Larry Pepper. Medford curve ball
artist, was knocked from the box In
the seventh inning when the Loggers
scored three times to stow away the
battle. Ray Erlckson relieved blm
and held the wlnnera hltless from
there on out.
The Craters tallied once In the
first frame when Hoffman tripled to
right and acvored on Welly Rlckert's
long fly to center. They added an
other In the second when 8wsnson
got hit by a pitched ball and scored
on Second Baseman Pete's error of
Balkovlck's bounder, and made t 3-0
In the third on singles by Dick Lewis
and Rlckert.
Olendale took the lead In the
fourth Inning on three hits, errors
by Dick Lewis and Rlckert, and a
base on balls. Miller's two-base drive
Into left field climaxed the rally
and drove in the fourth run.
Medford went ahead 7-4 In the
sixth when Stlne and Sakratda sin
gled. Knox doubled to center. Man
ager Balkovick singled sharply to left
and Willis, In left field, dropped a
fly from the bat of Dick Lewis. That
seemed like the ball game, but the
lead was short lived.
Olendale tied It In their half of
the sixth with a three-run outburst.
Plaster walked and 'waa forced at
second by Carpenter. Hsuser also
walked and they both scored on
Pete's double to left. Pete crossed
the plate on a passed ball.
Again Medford went ahead In the
seventh. - Rlckert doubled to center
and Stlne walked. Swanson sacri
ficed them up a base and Rlckert
scored when Sakralda waa being
thrown out. Miller to Rhodes.
The Loggers counted thrice In the
seventh to Ice the game. Rhodes
singled to left to start the Inning,
and, after Thompson had lined to
Rlckert, Stewart singled to center,
they both scoring on Swanson's er
ror. Erlckson replaced Pepper on
the mound for Medford and hit Plas
ter, the Ilrst batter he faced. Plaster
went to second and Carpenter reach
ed first on a fielder's chlce, and the
former scored on another fielder's
choice. ...
The defeat was Medford's third
straight and Olendale'a first win in
tour starts. Hoffman hit a triple
and double for the Craters while Mil
ler collected a pair of ssfeties for
Olendale.
Next Sunday, Medford travels to
Crescent City to play off a postponed
