again recommended the burning of

civilian Jobs at district headquartera
here on. August 1 when all headquar
tera positions now held by enrol lees
will be placed under civilian ratings.

There are unofficial reports also
that headquartera staff will be cen
trallzed at the fairgrounds in the
fall. The ataff Is now divided be
tween the fairgrounds and the old
Medford city hall. The centraliz
ation, If authorized, would be for
the purpose of achieving a more uni
fied and therefore more efficient ad
ministrative staff.'
At present 31 civilian positions are
held at district headquarters. With
the change tn policy, between 60 and
80 civilian ratlnga will be added.

The change, the major explained,
wlU enable the headquarters staff to
settle down on a permanent basis,
undisturbed by a constant turnover
In personnel through normal dis
charge of enrollees and the loss of
men who find private employment.
It Is probable that headquarters
detachment will be discontinued as
an organization after July 31, Major
Owens said.
