Former Resident Dies Word was
received in Medford today of the
death of J. D. Terry at his home in
Minneapolis, Minn., on April S. Mr.
Terry was a former resident of Med
ford. He Is survived by only one
relative, Betty Terry, a daughter, she
resides In Chicago.
Airport Arrivals Yesterday's late
arrivals at Medford municipal air
port Included Lieut. John C. Doherty
In an army Douglas observation plane
and Dean Ferran In a Superior Oil
company ship. Doherty arrived at 8
o'clock last night from Oakland, Col.,
and left this morning for Fort Lewis.
Wash. Ferran arrived from Sacra
mento, Cal and was en route to
Seattle. Wash. He will remain here
until Saturday, having some work
done on his plane at the airport.
From Butte Falls Mrs. Charles
Patton of Butte Falls was calling on
friends and shopping In Medford to

business and receiving medical at
tention here today.

Webster underwent a major opera
tion at the Community hospital yes
terday. She was reported recovering

To Port Orford Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Foster left this afternoon for
Port Orford where they will visit a
week with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Haynes,
former local resident. The Fosters
plan to make their home in Portland
Mr. Foster has accepted a position
there with a large cooky company.

president of the Talent District Grow
ers club, announced the regular
monthly meeting of the organization
would be held tomorrow night at 8
o'clock. County Agent Robert G.
Fowler will address the meeting on
the county weed control plan.

Engineer Here H. D. Farmer of
Portland, senior highway engineer
for the federal bureau of public roads,
was In Medford today preparatory
to making an Inspection of the Dia
mond Lake highway. The bureau has
another year to maintain the high
way before turning it over to the
state.
On Forest Staff Robert L. Herring
arrived from his Portland home today
to begin his new duties as Junior
assistant technician of the Rogue
River forest at the Applegate CCC
camp. The position Is a civil service
appointment. Herring Is a graduate
of Benson polytechnic high school In
Portland. He has been stationed at
the Gunter CCC camp near Drain.

Meeting Scheduled Reese Creek
Gospel mission wlll hold the annual
church meeting Sunday, May 2. All
members and friends are Invited. A
basket dinner Is being planned. The
Rev. J. A. Flaharty of Central Point
will speak In the morning and the
Rev. Vale Johnson will address the
afternoon meeting. New officers will
be elected. Sunday school will con
vene at 10 o'clock.

in bloom are to be sent to various
syndicates for general newspaper dis
tribution as an aftermath of the first
annual pear blossom week which
came to a close last Sunday, It was
announced today by Q. C. Brlggs,
big eruption of the Crater club. The
event was sponsored by the Cratsr
club and will be repeated and made
more extensive each year until It
becomes one of the outstanding cele
brations on the west coast, Mr. Brlggs
said.
Bring Prisoners Leo McLaln.
United State deputy marshal, and
Paul Hanlln, recently appointed dep
uty marshal, returned last night from
Klamath Falls with James McDoneld,
64, and Kenneth Brooks, 27, federal
prisoners charged with selling liquor
to Indians. The two men were placed
In the Jackson county Jail, bringing
the number of federal prisoners In the
jail to 11. All the prisoners will be
transferred tomorrow night by Mc
Laln and Hanlln to Portland. The
other prisoners are Andy Olson, 42,
Ed Ray, 60, Jack Hull, 21, Henry Mil
ler, 48. Fred Flood, 68, Fred J. Mills.
68, Nelson Wicks, 49, Millard Lang,
36, and Irving Lewis, 26, the last
three being Indians. All are accused
of selling liquor to Indians.
"Racketeers in Exile," dramatic
story of a public enemy who makes

ings, climaxing his career with a
ruthless attack on crime, will play
tomorrow and Saturday only at the
Rialto theater.
George Bancroft heads the large

Chorus Meeting Jackson County
Teachers' chorus will meet for re
hearsal Saturday morning at 10
o'clock In the courthouse auditorium.
This Is to be the last practice be
fore the Monday concert In Ashland,
those In charge stated.

Dance Saturday A dance will be
held at 9 o'clock Saturday evening
In the new Griffin Creek recreational
hall under sponsorship of the school
board. Proceeds will be applied to
ward paying for the hall. Refresh
ments, served by the 4-H club, will
be available during the evening. A
four-piece orchestra will provide
music for the dance.
Joins in Request Jackson County
Chamber of Commerce today Joined
in a request asking the navy depart
ment to display a submarine In Cres
cent City, Cal., harbor as part of the
coast town's celebration on July 4.
The chamber was asked to Join In
the request by Paul A. Brunk of the
Crescent City post of the American
Legion. Mr. Brunk declared there
were probably many Medford resi
dents who would like to have the
opportunity to inspect an under-sea
craft.
AIRPLANE AIDS IN
CAPTURING SLAYER
BOULDER CITY, Nev., April 29.
(UP) Mrs. Grace Nusser was recap
tured by government rangers today
on charges of slaying her former hus
band after an escape attempt carried
her 20 ml Ice before she was located
by an airplane.
The woman was taken Into custody
by Federal Ranger Jack Weller after
the bullet-riddled body of George
Nusser was found In a cottage of this
model city. After reportedly admitting
she shot Nusser because he was plan
ning to marry Greta Scofield, of Lay
ton, Utah, Mrs, Nusser escaped while
Weller wns telephoning a report of
the case to police in nearby Las Vegas.
She was found lying under a mes
qulte bush, near exhaustion, by of
ficers who followed the plane.

Anna M. Jenson, a resident of Med
ford for the past seven years, passed
away early Thursday morning at the
age or 73 years, She is survived by
six children, Mrs. A. L. Kitchen, Jack
sonville; Mrs. J. J. Derby, Junction
City, Ore.; Mrs. H. M. Channlng,
Tumwatcr, Wash.; Mrs. W. M. Lan
deen, College Place, Wash.; Ernest L.
Jcnson. Lodl, Cal., and Albert M.
Jenson, Yuma, Ariz.; 29 grandchild
ren; also one brother, Jacob Chrls
topherson, Portland, Ore.
