firm tone ruled th pple market to
day with the demand for fancy grade
exceeding the call for extra fancy.
The price aprrad narrowed and a
number of holder sought 1.5 for
fancy stock.
With bulk Wlnesaps popular In
tha mldwestern and southern mar
ket at around 70 per ton, some
packers reported a shortage In the
lower grades.
Northwest car movements reached
934 last week compared with 631 the
week previously. Oregon has shipped
2905 cars this season.
Rogue river valley pears dominated
the week shipment of 18 cars. Un
sold holdings consist chiefly of Win
ter Nells but there are a few remain
ing cars of D'AnJous.
More than 30,000 different kinds of
rubber articles are In general use In
the United States, the manufacture
of which gives direct employment to
150.000 workers.

Brokers attributed tne comeback
mainly to the belief the list had
been oversold. Considerable short
covering was noted In most board
rooms and buying for a quick turn
aided the recovery.
A break In Vienna and Budapest
markets tended to keep some traders
on the sidelines, but stocks Improved
in London and other centers.
