Light Plant Installed Installation
was completed yesterday of an elec
tric light plant for the ERA camp
of the Rogue River national forest
at union Creek. W. L. Jones, con
struction superintendent, and Grant
Neeley, supervising mechanic of the
forest service, directed the Installa
tion. The plant has a capacity of
five kilowatts. It will provide elec
trlct light for the entire camp, gaso
line lanterns having been used pre
viously. The generator Is operated by
a gasoline engine.
Enlist In Army Jess A. Storm, son
of Jess M. Storm, end Edward E
Cleveland, son of Mrs. Ella Mlnlnlck,
both of Central Point, were formally
enlisted In the United States army
at Portland yesterday, Willis E. Es
tep. recruiting sergeant here, was noti

both youths chose the 7th Infantry

host of favorable earnings statements
and prospects of further Industrial
Improvement stimulated a selective
and quiet rally In today's stock mar
ket. Led by steels and rails, favored
farm Implements, alrcrafts, rubbers
and specialties pusned up fractions
to 2 or more points, although late
profit selling cut down extreme gains
In many Instances. Losers were plen
tiful at the close.
The president's message to con
gress requesting 1.600.000,000 for the
relief budget was In line with fore
casts and brokers thought It had lit
tle Influence either way on stocks.
The suggestion new taxes were pos
sible In the next session had also
been considered In the financial dis
trict. U. S. government securities skid
ded as the chief executive disclosed
a boosted but anticipated deficit In
the fiscal period ending June 30. Cor
poration bonds Improved. Commodi
ties displayed uneven trends.
Stock dealings were rather lively
In the first hour. The pace slowed
subsequently. Transfers were around
1.100.000 shares.

to Webb's announcement, ahoweo
that the blood clot resulted from
this former hurt and not from any
recent injuries which left numerous
bruises on the tiny body.
The father, Leonard Hopkins, Can
yon vt lie barber, and his wife, Vlcia
Cordelia Hopkins, are still being held
in the county Jail. The father had
admitted whipping the girl with a
leather belt and the step-mother said
she struck her on the legs with a
small stick, but both deny unduly
severe punishment, the sheriff said
