Scheduled for Saturday
' The first lnterscbolastlo. track and
field, meet of tha year will be staged
at the high school field tomorrow
afternoon when Junior performers of
Medford high, Medford Junior high,
Phoenix, Central Point and poaslbly
Jacksonville open hostilities at 4
o'clock. The meet will be only for
athletes 16 years of age and under,
Saturday afternoon, Medford high's
varsity squad will play host to Grants
Pass, Phoenix, Central Point and
Kerby In a five-way varsity meet.
Opening event, the shot put, will
get under way at 1:30 p. m.
' Coach Bill Bowerman of the Med
ford high varsity and Junior squads
announced today his entrants In the
Junior meet tomorrow: They are as
follows: 180 and 100-yard dash,
Wayne Abbott and Art Carpenter;
hurdles, Dick Finch, Oene McCurly
and Robert Stead; 300-yard dnsh, Al
Plche and Wayne Abbott; half-mile,
Bill Waldron, Don Younger and Wal
lace Erl; mile, Bob Mace; shot and
discus, Milton Bedford; Javelin, Mil
ton Bedford and Wallace Erl; high
Jump, Don Montelth and Walter
Kreaae: brosd Jump,' Oene McCurly
and Don Montelth; pole vault, Oene

Bowerman announced that there
would be no admission charges.
Red Shadow Wins
With Single Fall

Red Shadow won one fall and the
match from "Dazzler" Jim Cl'.rk, 208,
Boston, In 38 minutes. In the main
event of last nlght'a wrestling card
here.
The Shadow gained his fall with a
back-breaker hold, and Clark was
unable to continue.

Wins Hearst Trophy

and university competitors to win

The team will also rocelve a plaque
emblematic ot the ninth corps area
championship. Each man will be
awarded a gold medal and Captain
Delbert BJork of Astoria qualified for
the Individual performance award
with a score of 103 out of a possible
300.

amid cheers of an enthusiastic crowd
today.
The rsctng yacht, winner of many
events after Its launching In 1936,
had a full crew when she entered the
water. She waa captained by George
Williams. No re-launching ceremo
nies were held today.
In keeping with America's cup
rules, the Endeavor II will cross the
Atlantlo for her race against the
American entry on the strength of
her own canvas as much a possible,
though she will be attended by a
Belgian steamer which will tow her
when sailing isn't possible.
The departure date hasn't been de
termined.

German refugees expressed surprise
today that the Nasi Inspired preset
should have elected to attack a film
shown at Riverside church Sunday In
the committee's campaign to raise
funds for refugees' relief.
Frank Ritchie, executive- director,
said the Nazi press "erred' If It be
lieved the committee had any Inten
tion to arouse hatred egatnst Ger
many. "We are not antl anything," Rltch
le said. "Ours Is a purely humanltar
ain organization created to raise
funds for the thousands of Christian
German refugees ln all parts of the
world who find themselves homeless
and without means to provide their
own livelihood."
He said the film shown Sunday
under the committees' auspices "waa
not a hato film but simply a frank
portrayal of the desperate situation
many of these refugees now are ln."

Wednesday was "the first real grow
ing day" of the year, according to
County Agent Robert G. Fowler, and
all forma of vegetation flourished un
der the warm, moist condtlons. Pro
