Enlist In Navy Completion of the
district quota of four navy enlist
ments for April was announced to
dsy by Ernest M. West, recruiting of
ficer here. Those enlisted were War
ren W. Denney, aon of Mrs. Delia
Denney of route 3: Claude M. King,
son of Mr. and Mra. Claude O. King
of Rogue River: Lester R. Barker of
Grants Pass, and Plorlan Kllmczak,
enrollee at the Klamath CCC camp
near Merrill. The four youths were
accepted at the recruiting station
here and were formally enlisted at
Portland yesterday. Mr. West said.
They were transferred Immediately to
the San Diego naval training station
where they will receive three months'
preliminary preparation for actual
duty with the navy. Applications for
enlistment during the next few
months are now being received oy
Mr. West at his office In the Medford
federal building. Details regarding
qualifications and the service may be
procured from him.

Slide Delays Train.
A slide on the Southern Pacific
railroad tracks near the Blsklyous
summit delayed the northbound pas
senger train this morning. Dirt, rocks
and trees, loosened by rain, tumbled
onto the tracka about 5 a. m. today.
Clearance waa completed before noon
and the train arrived here shortly
after 3 p. m. It was due at 8:47 this
morning.

An army convoy from Port Lewis.
Wash., resumed Us march early this
morning to the Presidio In San Fran
cisco after spending the night at the
Medford armory.
The convoy Is transporting 37
trucks for use of the 30th Infantry
regiment In its march from San
Francisco to Fort Lewis for maneu
vers. The 30th infantry, together
with the convoy, .will spend the night
of April 30 here.
The convoy waa from the 9th field
artillery which Is commanded by
Lleut.-Col. Robert O. Klrkwood. Col.
Klrkwood accompanied the ' convoy
and expressed his appreciation for use
of the armory. All the facilities msde
available for the convoy use were
"very excellent," the colonel stated.
Elder Preston Nibley. president of
the Lstter Dav Saints Northwestern
states mission, will be principal speak
er at a conference here Thursday.
The meeting will bo held at 7:30
p. m. In the Baldwin Music hall, 133
