ANDERSON'S SENTENCE
Harold J. (Swede) Anderson, con
victed by a circuit court Jury of
driving an auto while Intoxicated,
was sentenced to serve 00 days In
the county Jail, and fined WO by
Judge H. D. Norton tJhl morning.
Andorson waa remanded to the cus
tody of the sheriff, and started serv
ing his sentence at once.
Two previous convictions rested
against Anderson, well known
throughout southern Oregon aa an
athlete. He played football on two
Medford high state champion squads,
on the freshman team at the Univer
sity of Oregon, and at the Southern
Oregon Normal school.
"You are apparently popular, and
have many friends, but It must be
Impressed upon your mind you can
not drive an auto while Intoxicated,'
the court told Anderson, before pass
ing sentence." The law covering vio
lations of auto regulations must be
enforced and upheld.
Pleaa In behalf of Anderson were
made by hut counsel. Porter J. Neff,
and by Attorney K. E. Kelly.
"I have known Anderson for a long
time," Attorney Kelly said, "and
know nothing bad about blm, except
a tendency to drink too much occa
sionally, and drive an auto."
Anderson waa arrested last April,
after driving an auto In a weaving
manner through Saturday night traf
Ilc on Riverside avenue, but with
out mishap.
For a number of months Anderson
has ben a member of the city fire
department.
