SALEM. Nov. 37. (ip Governor
Martin said today the Portland strike
situation Involving the Oregon Wor
sted company was a matter for Mayor
Joe Carson to handle, and stated he
would not step In unless the situation
got out of control of city authorities.
The matter waa brought to the ex
ecutive's attention by Walter W. R.
May of the Portland chamber of com
merce, who requested him to call a
conference with the stat board of
conciliation.
