Because of the great popularity
of the Mall Tribune report of the
quarter-by-quarter score of the
Salem-Medford football game laat
week, thla newspaper will give out
quarterly reports of the progress
of the Medford-EugeMe gam.
which itarta at noon tomorrow In
Eugene. The reports will be wired
to thla office and editorial ataff
workers will be on hand to an
awer telephone Inquiries until
3:30. Those planning to drlva to
the game tomorrow are warned
that the klckoff has been moved
forward to noon, two hours earlier
than usual for afternoon games.
The Medford high achool football
squad, primed to aheath the powerful
axe of the Eugene Axmen on Hayward
field tomorrow afternoon, left thla
morning on the Shaata for tha Unl
Teralty cut and tha Thanksgiving
Day atruxgl which may topple Eu
gene from the undefeated-untied
claw In the state.
Tha Medford aquad has ooma along
fast since the disastrous Klamath
Falls and Ashland struggles, booming
to tha fore when they held a strong
saictm team to a 7-7 tie while punch
Ing over another touchdown that waa
not counted. During practice slnoa
tha Salem game tha Tlgera have
shown consistent Improvement In
blocking and tackling, and In tha
1reclalon that marked tha team as
one of tha moat colorful In tha state
In thalr early game.
Tha team will be In tha beat eon
riltlon of tha year since the peak of
tna season against oranta Pass Of
tha four who were out after that
game Olaen, Lewla, Btocka and
Boot two will be back In harness,
I wis and Stocks. Neither are In the
best of condition but will aea action
In part of tha game. Stocks waa given
a clean bill of health by tha attend'
Ing physician who told him that his
broken collar bona waa now healed
sufficiently to allow him to play full
apeed. The Injured bona haa knit
again, but Is still painful to th star
eenter.
The spirit on tha Medford team la
tha best of tha year, cognizant of the
fact they are entering tha game as
underdogs, they are nevertheleas poa
sawed of a spirit to win tomorrow's
ball game that ahould go far toward
accomplishing that seemingly Impos
sible task. Kugena has gone through
a hard season undefeated, running
up alarming acorea against outclassed
opposition, but the members of the
Black Tornado expressed tha belief
before leaving that the Axmen were
to meet a brand of competition that
they are not expecting.
Many townspeople will be In the
northern city for tha game. Poealbly
several hundred rootera will leave to
day and tomorrow morning to ba on
hand for ttie battle. The drum and
bugle corps and tha high achool band
wilt leave early tomorrow morning
to lead the team support.

We run our house on
the Huddle System
MAYBE two can live as cheaply as one on a desert
island. But right after we married, Jim and I soon
found out that running a house cosfs money more, we
first thought, than we could manage to scrape together.
Things are easier now. It took a while for us to learn,
but we have the plan down pat. Jim calls it our "huddle
system."
There really isn't any trick about it. We have a
budget, of course-so much for food, clothes, amuse
ments, luxuries, vacation. But having a budget is one
thing. Making it work is another. There's where the
system comes in.
Religiously, each day, we read the advertisements in
this paper together. Jim looks for the things he is
most inerested in-suits, shirts, golf equipment, books,,
smoking supplies. I look out for myself shoes,
dresses, a winter coat, cosmetics. Both of us keep our
eyes open for household needs furniture, draperies,
bathroom accessories, linens. Then we go into a "hud
dle" report to each other check over our budget
spend what we can for what we feel we need-ant save!
Careful buying, Jim says, is the secret of saving
money. But careful reading of advertising, we both
agree, comes first!
