the span of the world's longest sus
pension bridge, across the Golden
Gate.
Steel girders, were placed yesterday
across the small gap In the 4200 -foot
span. The $35,000,000 structure will
link San Francisco directly with the
Redwood highway which leads along
the const ,to the state's northern
limit.
The Golden Gate was spanned less
than a week after the $77,000,000
bay bridge between San Francisco and
Oakland was opened to public travel
The Golden Gate bridge will not be
open to traffic for more than a year.

of his associates and that we know
his passing Is likewise mourned not

Oregon but by the citizens who knew
him and hold him in love and
