Claus Klelnhammer sustained a out

Fire destroyed a "pick-up" truck
belonging to Abe Kromllng, well
known local trapper, Wednesdsy. Mr.
Kromllng had parked the car near
the Lance Offenbacher barn while
Inspecting his trap line, and upon
hla return tha car was In flames. Mr.
Offenbacher had discovered the fire
In time, however, to remove the car
from the barn and prevent the fire
from spreading. The car waa unln
aurcd and the origin of the fire la
not known.

Following a week's hunting trip
to Uktnb In eastern Oregon, Sid Han
son and son Oene returned Saturday
with a large elk, killed by Mr. Han
sen. As a rosult of the trip, many
friends and 'neighbors have enjoyed
the privilege of having the rare meat
on their menu.
Dick Reeves, formerly of Little Ap
plegate, was calling on friends there
o, few days ago, Mr. and Mra. Reeves,
who now reside In southern Cali
fornia, where Mr. Reeves has employ
ment on a government construction
project, were spending a short time
with friends on Williams creek, while
en route to their home from a vaca
tion trip to Portland and Seattle.
Pupils of the Beaver creek school
are preparing a Thanksgiving program
to bepreaented at the Upper Apple-
gate Orange hall Wednesday, Novem
ber 36. A pie social will follow. The
Applegate school also la arranging a
program and pie social to be held
at Applegate hall, Saturday, Novem
ber 21.

Camp Carherry, established as a
winter CCO camp, will be occupied
this winter by the ERA camp from
Lake of the Woods. One hundred
fourteen men are moving to the loca
tion this week, and have seleoted com
pletion of the Thompson creek road
aa their work project. Recent minor
changes at Camp Applegate Includo
removal of the garage and machine
shop from the roadside to more suit
able locations. Local cattle owners
have expressed their welcome to this
change, having experienced difficulty
In driving cattle by tha camp.
