Andrews, former Medford resident
and popular young artist here, will
sing on a broadcast tonight over NBC
at 7:30 o'clock, Medford time. He Is
now living In New York Cltf with
his mother, Mrs. George Andrews.
Mrs. Shepard Hurt Mrs. Kate
Shepard, 610 South Central avenue,
was Injured In a fall at the city hall
Tuesday morning and was taken to
the Osteopathic hospital for treat
ment. Hospital attaches stated today
that she had suffered a stroke. She
Is reported recovering aa well as could
be expected.

Attend Game Among Ashlanders
In Medford yesterday to attend the
Medford-Ashland game were mi, and
Mrs. Wlllard Eberhart.

the St. Mary's-Santa Clara football

Marsh Fire Watched A 70C-acre
tule fire In the Klamath marsh south
of Fort Klamath waa being watched
carefully today lest a strong wind
develop snd carry It to the Rogue
river national forest which adjoins
to the west. So long as the fire Is
confined to the marsh no damage
will be done, forest officials said. The
fire, of undetermined origin, was dis
covered yesterday.
Unit Meeting Oak Grove extension
unit met a,t the home of Mrs. Alton
Waldron on Lozler lane recently when
cooking of strong vegetables was dem
onstrated. Plans were made for par
ticipating in a bazasr to be given
by the Oak Grove Neighborhood club
tomorrow at 8 o'clock In the school
basement. Next meeting of the unit
wUl be held at the home of J. U.
Gustafson on Jacksonville highway.
November 30 at 10 a. m. Subject will
be salads. The meeting will adjourn
early so that those present wishing
to attend the P.-T. A. meeting at the
school at 3:30 p. m. may do so. .
Bag Three F.Ik A party of six
hunters brought down three elk In
the Uklah country of eastern Oregon
Sunday and Monday, It was reported
today by Fire Chief Roy Elliott. Med
ford men in the group were Chief
Elliott, Carl Stewart and bis son, Del-
vln Stewart. The chief bagged a five-
point bull and Mr. Stewart brought
down a three-pointer. Horns from
Chief Elliott's elk measured 48 Inches
from tip to tip. Just two Inches shy
of being four feet. The horns are
to be mounted for a wall decoration
at fire department headquarters. The
Medford hunters left here Saturday,
hunted Sunday and Monday and re
turned home yesterday afternoon. Elk
In the region were either scarce or
very elusive, Chief Elliott stated.
WILLIAM HOLMES
CALLED BY DEATH
William M. Holmes, aged 80, and
well known throughout Jackson coun
ty where he haa resided for the last
88 yeara, passed away at the home
of his son, W, E. Holmes, on Qrlffln
creek early this morning. He was
life member of the Masonic lodge of
Jacksonville.
A complete obituary will appear In
later Issue of this paper. Funeral
services will be conducted by Rev. B.
S. Bartlam at the Conger chapel at
3:80 Saturday. The services at the
grave in the Jacksonville cemetery
will be under auspices of the Jack
sonville lodge, A. F. and A. M.
All members of Warren lodge, A. F.

hall In Jacksonville at 1:30 p. m,
Saturday, for the purpose of attend
ing and conducting the last rites for

morning was Rev. Prank E. Carlson,
chairman of the eight-day preaching
mission In Oregon, who spoke on
"Personal Evangelism." Rev. Pred M.
Weathertord, pastor of the local Naz
arene cburch, stirred his audience
this morning with an inspirational
address. "The Challenge of Today."
Dinner at 6:30.
No program was planned for the
afternoon hours following luncheon
until 5:30, when southern Oregon
church women were to meet for dis
cussion, led by Mrs, -T. Arthur Dun
gan of Portland, who has gained spe
cial recognition In the state as a
Christian leader among women.

Murder Mystery
Mason, the lawyer-detective made fa
moua by the noted writer. A noto
rious blackmailer is murdered and
eight persons are suspected of the
crime, among them his wife, his
nephew and his henchman. Several
motives are uncovered but Mason, as
usual, traces down the rat.
"Code of the Range" Is filled with
scenes of warfare on tho open ranges
between cattlemen and sheephcrders.
The film Introduce a newcomer to
the screen. Miss Mary Blake, who has
the lead opposite Starrett.
The meeting here today was under
the auspices of the local ministerial
association and the speakers are con
nected with the national preaching
mission which met last week In Port
land. Purpose of the meetings Is to
arouse churches of all denominations
to the facing of modern problems In
modern ways.
